Ed and Lorraine are seen in the first scene bringing the doll home, seated in the back of their car.

'Nice doll,' says the cops as he looks into their car in the middle of the night with a flashlight.

'That's what you think,' Ed replies.

As demonologists, the couple have an entire room in their home dedicated to strange and possessed artifacts, but knowing Annabelle's evil spirits, they not only place her in a locked glass cabinet, but enlist a priest's holy blessings as well.

'Don't your parents keep any creepy stuff around?' asks the babysitter.

'They keep it all locked up in a room,' replies Judy, adding: 'It's not safe for anyone to go in there.'

'My dad says that anything in there is either haunted, cursed or used in some sort of ritualistic practice.'

And when asked specifically about Annabelle, Judy warns: 'She's in a case for a reason.'

Here comes Annabelle: It appears as though even just saying the doll's name was enough to waken up her spirit and set her eyes on the young girl and her babysitter
