Jamie Oliver's flagship London restaurant is cleared out by bailiffs

Jamie Oliver's flagship London Italian restaurant has been cleared out by bailiffs today (pictured main and bottom left) after the business went into administration. The celebrity chef's beleaguered chain Jamie's Italian has debts of £71.5million and workers were seen today removing valuables from the eaterie near Piccadilly Circus. Bailiffs were seen loading tables and chairs into a lorry outside the restaurant (pictured exterior top right and interior bottom right), which opened in 2014, with furniture piled up inside the vehicle as well as cooking equipment and even an orange scooter (top left). Oliver (inset with wife Jools), who has netted £240 million during 20 years in the public eye, said he was 'devastated' and 'deeply saddened by the outcome' in a statement. Workers had last week discovered the closures after turning up for their shifts only to find restaurants were shut.

Michel Barnier says the UK voted for Brexit because of 'typical British nostalgia'

EU chief negotiator - and potentially the next commission president - Michel Barnier gave the dismissive assessment as he warned Tory hopefuls Brussels will not renegotiate the deal it agreed with Theresa May. The intervention, as a crucial point in the contest to succeed Mrs May, could inflame tensions with Brexiteers once again. Bitter divisions have erupted between those such as Boris Johnson who say the UK must leave the bloc in October whether or not there is a deal agreed - and Jeremy Hunt who has warned it would be 'political suicide'.

Remainer entrepreneur Marcus Ball (left), of Norwich, has spent nearly £50,000 of donations to his private prosecution of Boris Johnson (inset) on his own salary, rent, self-defence classes and branded cupcakes (right). The 29-year-old has successfully lobbied the court to bring a case of misconduct in a public office against the Tory leadership frontrunner although Mr Johnson's legal team and supporters have branded it a 'political stunt' to 'reverse Brexit'. Mr Ball's own spending report has revealed he splashed out thousands of pounds on himself after 'maxing out his credit cards'. He said he needed self-defence classes after receiving threats, while the cupcakes were meant to 'motivate' his legal team.

STEPHEN GLOVER: This time next year, will Boris Johnson be installed in No 10 as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and First Lord of the Treasury?

GUY ADAMS: Marcus Ball hates lies. He especially hates politicians who lie, a fact trumpeted on his own page on a professional networking website which states: 'When politicians lie, democracy dies.'

Joey Barton's stag do spirals into an 'extremely violent' mass brawl in front of families after reveller rugby tackles one of his friends on Cornish beach

Joey Barton's stag do descended into an 'extremely violent' mass brawl as one of the former footballer's friends allegedly punched three men. The 36-year-old Fleetwood Town manager was celebrating in Newquay, Cornwall, when sunbathers were left scrambling to get out of the way. One holidaymaker said that the scrap ruined the Bank Holiday atmosphere on Towan Beach as parents dragged their children away from the scene as it descended into chaos. Ex-Manchester City midfielder Barton had been drinking and running races with his friends. Suddenly, a man from another group rugby-tackled a friend of the former Newcastle player. Barton's friend quickly retaliated, hitting three of the group, according to the witness. JANET STREET-PORTER on Simon Cowell's son Eric

NEW Poor little Eric Cowell - just five years old and his (well-meaning but pushy) dad has already drawn up an action plan, writes JANET STREET-PORTER. A route map to personal success without any alternatives. Pop Svengali and workaholic Simon Cowell isn't content with masterminding protegees on his talent shows and recording labels, he's determined to turn his son into a clone, working in dad's business before he's even reached his teens! Cowell says he can't see the point of secondary school education - it didn't work for him, he hated exams, forged his reports and left as soon as he could. In Simon's 'informed' opinion education is pointless after a certain age (unless your child is an academic genius), and he doesn't want Eric to have to deal with bullying and get stressed by homework. Tragic moment a river cruise ship crashed into tourist boat which sank in SEVEN SECONDS during a storm on the Danube - leaving seven South Koreans dead and 21 missing

Footage (left) appears to show the Viking hotelship (top right and bottom right) colliding with the two-deck Mermaid (top left) on the River Danube close to Parliament amid torrential rain in Budapest, Hungary. The Mermaid, carrying 35 people, capsized before sinking in just seven seconds on a fast-moving stretch of river which has swollen during heavy downpours throughout May. Seven passengers were said to be in a stable condition in hospital despite suffering hypothermia from the frigid water which was around 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius). One person was found some two miles from the scene of the crash, but rescuers say the chances of finding further survivors is 'minimal'. Pal Gyorfi, from the Hungarian national ambulance service, said this was 'not just because of the water temperature, but the strong currents in the river, the vapour above the water surface, as well as the clothes worn by the people who fell in.' Hungarian police have launched a criminal investigation into what is one of the country's worst boat accidents. Right centre: Search operations today.

Cherie Blair 'voted Lib Dem' in Euro elections

NEW Sources close to Cherie Blair made clear she did not support Labour in the polls last week - amid claims she too backed the Lib Dems. The intervention is effectively a challenge to Jeremy Corbyn to kick her out, as he faces all-out mutiny from Remain supporters. Her husband, former PM Tony Blair, has said he voted Labour 'without any enthusiasm'. There has been an #expelmetoo backlash on social media, and deputy leader Tom Watson has branded the move - which is now being reviewed - 'spiteful'. Mr Campbell, Mr Blair's former spin doctor, was ousted from Labour on Tuesday after he admitted backing the Liberal Democrats because, unlike his party, they were strongly in favour of a so-called People's Vote.

Which white trainers are right for you?

Whether you favour a flat plimsoll style like the Duchess of Cambridge or a platform sole, there's no doubt the white trainer is this summer's most fashionable shoe. But some designs are heavier than others, causing problems of their own. If you suffer from fallen arches or flat feet, constantly wearing shoes like these will likely lead to problems with knees, hips or back. This is akin to wearing ankle weights while walking - which experts advise against.

The hydrogen-powered 120mph 'drone' that's a cross between an aircraft and SUV: Creators say vehicle will form a 'fleet' of flying taxis, cargo carriers and ambulances

US-based firm Alaka'i Technologies revealed its Skai vehicle which is inspired by current drones and powered by hydrogen fuel cells. It can take off and land vertically and has a range of 400 miles. The passenger-carrying model of the Skai (pictured, right) (pronounced 'sky') was unveiled this week near Los Angeles which also says the vehicles could be used as cargo carriers and ambulances of the sky as well as taxis. Like a drone, the vehicle from Alaka'i Technologies takes off and lands vertically but has seats for five people (top left) and a future test flight will see it flown by an on-board pilot using a pair of joysticks (bottom left), but the technology exists to eventually fly it remotely and even autonomously, its manufacturers claim.

The pair were stranded for several days in the world's coldest city Yakutsk, in Siberia, as they waited for a window in the weather to allow them to safely fly east. But after a gruelling two-stage flight this week they reached the bleak city of Magadan - once a transporting point for gulag prisoners - beside the Sea of Okhotsk on Russia's pacific coastline.
