A couple on last nights Location, Location, Location were fussy over presenter Phil's house choices claiming they didn't want to redecorate but ended up blowing their budget on another house and added on a £50,000 renovation.

Richard and Jo, who now live in Upper Basildon, Berkshire, had a budget of £650,000 and were looking for four-bedroom house near their new teaching jobs.

Adamant on having enough room for their two teenage daughters they were also pretty set on a en-suite bathroom.

However Phil found the couple hard to please when he showed them a series of houses, including one which was priced at £100,000 below their budget.

Their main sticking point on the houses were that they thought a lot of them needed redecorating - something the weren't keen on.

However when he revisited the couple 18 months later he found that they had bought a house £30,000 over their budget and then spent a further £50,000 renovating it - with viewer being baffled by it.

Last nights show, which revisited the couple 18 months after Phil had attempted to find a property for them, revealed him showing them round several houses.

The couple only had a six week deadline to find a house -being teachers they had the summer holidays to move out of on site accommodation and buy a house near to their new jobs.

The first property that Phil showed them in Stoke-row was just 20 mins to Pangbourne and was priced at £535,000.

However Richard and Jo, weren't taken with it as the bedrooms were small and there was no en-suite.

The couple had paid £680,000 for a four bedroom house in Upper Basildon, but quickly realised the house needed some work on it. Dining room was too small before for the couple

The second property again was under budget, based in Tilehurst it was two miles to Pangbourne and 10 minute drive to work. The detached house with a garage was £635,000.

Richard wasn't completely sold on it, but wife Jo complained: 'I think we would have to redecorate the whole house.'

Another one in Tilehurst looked a bit more promising, it was bigger with everything they wanted and at their budget £650,000 it had potential.

Jo said about the house: 'I think this is definitely the best house we’ve seen so far – but I’m more reserved about the cost.'

Later also saying: 'It’s got the space we need but I think we would need to update it quite a bit.'

The only drawback was the kitchen and separate dining room - after six months the couple wasted no time in knocking down a wall between them, making it into an open plan living and dining room space.
