'I've seen a strong link between house prices and a thriving food-centred community,' says editor of the Waitrose & Partners Good Food Guide, Elizabeth Carter. 'You only have to look at areas such as Bristol or Margate, in Kent, to see a rise in the interest of properties plus the emergence of a vibrant, thriving food scene,'

Buy your own campsite! Quarter-acre wood with stunning sea views goes on the market for £40,000 - but developers need not apply as building is barred on tiny Cornish plot
The woodland plot near St Ives, Cornwall, is on the market with Millerson estate agents in Hayle. The current owners of 'Night Garden' have used it to pitch a tent with sea views in idyllic Hain Walk, where land is in such high demand that a parking space can sell for as much as £55,000. Measuring 3,340sqft the woodland, made up of willow, redwood and oaks, is separated from the public coastal footpath by a green picket fence. Sales business development manager at Millerson, Paul Le Bas, said: 'It will be good for people who are wanting to own their piece of Cornish heaven.' Pictured bottom left and top right: The seaside views. Top left and bottom right: The woodland property. Centre: A sign for the Night Garden, fashioned from an old tree.
Sick of the city? As the property market remains weak, now may be the time to move to the country and set up a small business
Richard and Julie Arme, sick of trekking around the London underground to make money in the city, bought a four-bedroom detached house with 3½ acres of grounds and built their own romantic glamping site. The site, which has a BBQ area, woodland, a meadow and fishing lake, has proved successful, with 300 impressive TripAdvisor reviews and 22,000 Facebook followers. Their visitors pay about £100 a night in high season but profit isn't their motive.

Her letterbox had been taped up and an ugly metal postbox fixed to her door. The police were told but did not send anyone to investigate.

Is it possible to build a sustainable home for £150,000? 'Yes', says this couple who built a desirable eco-pad with Charlie Luxton in TV show Impossible Builds
The £150,000 budget for Bill and Sukie Barker's home didn't cover the cost of the land in the Scottish Borders, but it did cover the cost of the build and the furniture. It took just six hours to complete the exterior walls of the house, with a further four hours to put the final structural log in place. The roof took a further three weeks, while the interior walls were also installed. Five weeks after the first log was laid, the shell was complete and TV property star Charlie Luxton, pictured top left with the couple, was impressed.

It looks like a medieval castle that might date back centuries, with castellated exterior walls and a dragon gargoyle. But, in reality, this is a modern detached house in Torquay, Devon, completed less than 30 years ago. While the grounds and boundary walls of the property in Torquay are Grade II listed, the four-bedroom house was completed in 1992. It is called Lincombe Keep and is on the market for £1.5million.

The attractive four-bedroom property has been on the market since July last year but has so far failed to sell.
