Roman Polanski’s wife slams Quentin Tarantino for ‘trampling’ on her husband’s life by featuring him in Once Upon a Time, his film about the Manson Family murder of the filmmaker’s second wife and unborn baby

  • French actress Emmanuelle Seigner accused Tarantinto of profiting from deaths
  • Anticipated film features Margot Robbie as Polanski's second wife Sharon Tate
  • Tate was eight months pregnant when Manson cult members butchered her

Roman Polanski's wife has slammed Quentin Tarantino over his highly-anticipated new film 'Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood'.

French actress Emmanuelle Seigner, 52, who has been married to the filmmaker since 1989, accused Tarantino of profiting from the death of her husband's second wife and unborn child.

The critically-acclaimed movie features Sharon Tate, who was eight-months pregnant with Polanski's child when she was brutally murdered by Charles Manson's cult in 1969.

Seigner took to Instagram on Friday to hit out at Tarantinto for 'trampling' on her husband's life without consulting him.

'How can you take advantage of someone’s tragic life while trampling on them?' she wrote in French.

'I am just saying that it doesn't bother them (in Hollywood) to make a film which takes Roman and his tragic story and make money with it... while at the same time they have made him a pariah. And all without consulting him of course,' she added.

Seigner shared an old photo of Tate and Polanski together alongside her caption.

Seigner added that she is not attacking the film itself, but found it in bad taste for Tarantino not to approach Polanski about his depiction in the film.

Tarantino recently said that he is a fan of the filmmaker's work, particularly Rosemary’s Baby

Polanski has kept a low profile since fleeing to France in 1978 after admitting the statutory rape of a 13-year-old girl. He fled the US after serving 42 days in prison.

The 85-year-old has been a fugitive ever since running from the US justice system, despite repeated attempts to have him extradited.

He was largely exiled from Hollywood following his conviction but continued making films overseas. In 2003 he was awarded a best-director Oscar for The Pianist.

But Polanski's name was dragged through the mud again in the wake of the #MeToo movement, with the Academy voting to kick him out of its ranks.

Tarantino's epic, starring Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, is set in Los Angeles in 1969.

Polanski - played by Polish actor Rafal Zawierucha - features with his then-wife played by Australian Margot Robbie.

Tarantino reportedly consulted Tate's sister, the writer Debra Tate, before he started filming.

He told reporters at Cannes that he wanted to drag Tate's great lost talent back from the tabloid headlines.

Robbie, who wore double braids framing her face in tribute to Tate's hairstyle during a 1968 visit to Cannes, said she felt an obligation to do justice to the late actress.

'Quentin said it to me early on - she's the heartbeat of the story. I just saw her as a ray of light,' she said.

'I felt like I could honour the memory of real-life Sharon Tate who so many people said was such a bright light.'

Seigner, 52, who has two children with Polanski, is best known for her roles in the Oscar-nominated 'The Diving Bell and the Butterfly'.
