Their friendship made headlines back in 2017 when it was reported he had been creating art with the British sculptor to channel his heartbreak over his divorce from Angelina Jolie.
The actor was said to have locked himself away in a Los Angeles art studio in March 2017 to create a sculpture under the direction of his friend Thomas.
At the time, DailyMail.com exclusively revealed that he had been spending up to 15 hours a day in the studio working until the early hours of the morning and listening to playlists of sad songs.

Quiet time: The star showed that he doesn't suffer from seasickness as he took his nap
A source said at the time: 'Brad is joined by Thomas and his team of assistants but once darkness falls everybody else leaves and he stays behind, making the art space his own.
'He spends all night working on his art and listening to emotional songs.
'Everybody knows it's related to what's going on with him personally, but nobody says anything. He's a quiet guy, and very humble. He's learning at a fast pace.
'Art is a way for him to concentrate on one thing, taking his mind off everything else. He'd rather do that and be constructive than go out partying.'

The star's art soundtrack included songs by indie singer Bon Iver, and breakup track Just To Satisfy You by Waylon Jennings.
Lyrics to the latter song include: 'How many hearts must break, how many will it take. To satisfy you, just to satisfy you. Another love, another fool. To play your game.'
Before starting his artistic journey, Brad made a rare appearance at a public talk between Thomas and their mutual friend Flea – bass player in the Red Hot Chili Peppers - in downtown Los Angeles.
Out and about: Brad also saw his pal the next day as they went for a stroll with Thomas' partner, the art therapist Muna El Fituri
The 2017 event was particularly resonant for Brad as Thomas spoke in depth about his own personal struggles.
He told Brad and the rest of the audience: 'You need that darkness and doubt as a motivator … recently I've come to really like that broken guy and take care of him.'
The pair have been friends for some time, and Thomas has been there for Brad after also going through a divorce himself.
Thomas went on to explain the 'infinite magic of art', adding: 'When you have that trauma and have that anxiety, you have that push … it gets you off planet earth, and through the atmosphere really fast.'
Two's company: Brad was also spotted out with a female companion during the trip to the exhibition
According to an onlooker at the time, Brad attended the event with a group of buddies and looked deep in thought. He later appeared sombre with his head down, glued to his cell phone. Weeks later he'd started his project with Thomas.
Brad's ex Angelina filed for divorce in September 2016, two years after they got married in France.
The couple first met while making their 2005 action film Mr. & Mrs. Smith and began publicly dating a few months after the movie premiered.
They are also parents to Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 12, and 10-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
