'UFOs' seen by US Navy squadron during training 2014 and 2015 Tom Leonard

he fighter pilots could hardly conceal their surprise as they tracked the object moving at incredible speed above the waves. 'Wow, what is that, man?' says one excitedly. 'Look at it fly!' Infrared cockpit-camera footage taken on a later sortie by the same U.S. Navy squadron reveals another immensely fast-flying object, this one spinning in mid-air and moving against a 120-knot wind, again accompanied by commentary from totally baffled airmen. Although the footage shows only one of these objects, a pilot is heard to say: 'There's a whole fleet' showing up on his monitors. And as the one in the film turns slowly in the air, a shocked voice chimes in: 'Look at that thing! It's rotating!' Between the summer of 2014 and March 2015, it's now emerged, these unexplained objects were spotted almost every day over the skies off the U.S. East Coast.

Poll bombshell for Tories and Labour as main parties slip to joint third

A survey of how Britons might vote in a general election was set to show the main political parties in joint third place – behind the pro-Remain Lib Dems and Nigel Farage's Brexit Party. Sir Vince Cable's Liberal Democrats (pictured right) are predicted to garner 24 per cent – their best showing for years, according to the YouGov survey. Close behind is Nigel Farage's Brexit Party (inset) with 22 per cent – even though it has only been in existence for six weeks. However, the Conservatives and Labour are expected to be tied on an unprecedented 19 per cent. The Lib Dems came second in last week's European Parliament elections after attracting the support of hundreds of thousands of Remain-supporting Labour voters angry at their party's equivocal stance on a second Brexit referendum. The survey reveals the depth of the crisis the main parties face in the wake of the deadlock over Theresa May's Brexit deal.

Questioning Mr Oluwole's maths, he said on Twitter (bottom inset): 'Have you eaten Diane Abbott Femi? You sound like her, you have a grasp of numbers second only to her AND you even look like her, although you have much more of [a] glowing complexion.' The Twitter comment appeared to be a reference to Ms Abbott's (top inset) much-derided claims about Labour spending during the 2017 election campaign. Mr Oluwole reacted angrily to the 'racist' tweet, blaming Brexit Party leader Mr Farage for 'unleashing' prejudice as leader of the Brexit campaign.

Across the country, fundamentalist Muslims are protesting over LGBT lessons in class

PAUL BRACCHI: Almost all of Anderton's 800 pupils are Muslims, and for Muslims, homosexuality is sinful. The religious and cultural divide at the heart of this community has culminated in angry, but essentially peaceful, daily pickets outside the school, featuring placards reading 'My child, my choice', 'Our voice must be heard', and 'Let kids be kids'. Not everyone would necessarily disagree with these views. Tory leadership candidate Esther McVey is one such voice. 'I'm very clear, the final say is with the parents,' she declared in a TV interview yesterday.

It means that over the last six years, 585 practices have gone – covering a population of nearly 1.9million. 'We loved ISIS and we prayed to God for it,' he said. Twenty-four defendants - facing charges including promoting terrorism, forming a terrorist cell and premeditated murder - appeared in the court in Sale, near Rabat, under heavy security as the trial resumed today. In theory, the killers could face the death penalty, but Morocco has had a de facto freeze on executions since 1993.

A 31-year-old survivor, who only gave her surname as Jung, told a South Korean news agency today: 'The current was so fast and people were floating away but the rescue team did not come.' A 66-year-old American tourist who was on board the 442ft Viking Sigyn said passengers weren't aware of what had happened until they saw bodies in the water. Ginger Brinton said: 'We were on our balcony, and we saw people in the water, screaming for help. We never felt any bump. We didn't realise. We just saw people in the water. It was just terrible.'
