Ben Affleck looks ruggedly handsome dropping off son Samuel, 7, and daughter Seraphina, 10 to school ... after Robert Pattinson is named the new Batman

Ben Affleck has been officially replaced as Batman.

The 46-year-old seemed unfazed by the news when he was spotted playing his most important role, doting dad, on Friday in Los Angeles.

Affleck cut a ruggedly handsome figure as he was snapped dropping off son Samuel, seven and daughter Seraphina, 10 to school.

The star is sporting an attractive groomed thick beard that is flecked with silver these days.

He stepped out in the early hours before the first school bell to make sure his two youngest children got to class on time.

Ben wore a simple pair of grey trainers with olive slacks, a checked Oxford button-up and a khaki coat.

Like most parents on drop-off duty, Ben was spotted making sure each of his children had their respective backpacks and supplies.

The Oscar winner shares three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner - Seraphina, Samual and their eldest, Violet, 13.

Around the same time that the star was spotted, it was announced that Robert Pattinson would be stepping into the famed role of the Caped Crusader in The Batman.

Pattinson will be replacing Affleck as the masked superhero after it was announced several months back that Ben was out of the project.

Warner Bros. has officially approved Robert Pattinson as the star in The Batman, according to Deadline.

The 33-year-old former Twilight star had to battle his way through screen testing against actor Nicholas Hoult to portray the coveted superhero.

The studio was reportedly at odds over who they wanted to front the trilogy of films Matt Reeves is set to direct as both actors put on an impressive run for the role.

The Wrap reporter Umberto Gonzalez revealed on Twitter Thursday that both Pattinson, 33, and Hoult, 29, are testing for the role.

'BATMAN UPDATE: Robert Pattinson & Nicholas Hoult are screen testing for the role. I suspect they're screen testing in the Batsuit because Wardrobe Department will need full wardrobe test,' Gonzalez said.

Gonazalez added that, 'the film will now start production in Q1 2020,' giving the studio the rest of 2019 to secure the cast.

Variety broke the news earlier this month that Pattinson was the studio's top contender, and that report also mentioned that pre-production is expected to begin this summer.

Warner Bros. has already set aside a June 25, 2021 release date for The Batman, which will be written and directed by Matt Reeves (War For the Planet of the Apes).

The Batman was originally set to bring back Ben Affleck reprising the title character from 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017's Justice League.

Affleck was also set to direct the superhero adventure and he was co-writing the script with Geoff Johns.

Matt Reeves came aboard to take over as the writer and director, and it was confirmed in January that Ben Affleck was stepping away from the franchise entirely.

The departure was announced following Affleck's most recent stint in rehab for substance abuse.
