Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden put on a defiant display last night as she took to the stage in a braless outfit despite attracting Ofcom complaints about her risque dress the previous day.

Viewers had complained to the media watchdog about her 'inappropriate' and revealing 'spiderweb' outfit, but Amanda once again dared to bare in another revealing number during Thursday evening's semi-final.

The star boosted her height underneath the dramatic frock with a pair of black stiletto sandals.

The presenter brushed her blonde locks back into a bun, while she used a natural palette of make-up to highlight her pretty features.

Her outfit choice didn't go unnoticed by viewers at home, who took to Twitter in their droves to critique her 'inappropriate' wardrobe attire.

One fan commented, 'Shocking dress to wear so early in the evening Amanda! Not appropriate for a family show.', while another joked, '@BGT am I missing something...why does Amanda have to show her boobs most times...dont think I've seen her in a full dress'.

A third questioned, '@BGT Amanda Holden's dress to much why does she think she needs to wear a dress to show her body off all the time', while a fourth chimed in '@BGT can someone let Amanda know her dress is on back to front!'.

'#bgt what on earth is going on with Amanda Holdens dress??? #malfunction', another tweeted.

Some viewers were keen to stick up for the BGT judge, however, insisting she shouldn't be 'shamed' for her sartorial choices.

In total, Ofcom received 22 complaints about last night's Britain's Got Talent – nine of which about Amanda's dress.

An Ofcom spokesperson told MailOnline: 'We are assessing these complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate.'

After she stepped out in the racy ensemble, viewers were divided, and whilst some rushed to compliment the stunning ensemble, others wished she would dress more 'appropriately'.

'Need to dress more appropriately for a family show!!! Lovely dress for the right occasion but BGT is not it!!!', another said.

'An amazing dress but not really for family prime time TV', another said.

However, some fans were fans of Amanda's gown, with one user tweeting: 'Amanda looks like a princess in that dress', while another wrote: 'How stunning was @AmandaHolden tonight absolutely beautiful'.

But Amanda appeared to see the funny side of her very revealing dress, as she took to Instagram to share a joke about a water bottle sitting on the judges panel acting as a 'nipple cover'.

Amanda recently revealed she has 'changed things up' when it comes to her wardrobe and hired a new stylist.

Her former stylist was Holly Willoughby's very own right hand woman, Angie Smith, but Karl Willett has now been helping her out with her wardrobe.

The TV star has promised her new look will be 'uber glam' and she's grateful to work for a show like Britain's Got Talent that let her make daring outfit choices.

She said: 'It’s that time of the year I really get to dress up, and what girl doesn’t love to do that?!

'I’ve changed things up this year and I’ve got a brand new stylist who is amazing. I’ve taken so many risks with my outfits so watch this space! It’s going to be uber glam and lots of couture, nothing off the peg!'

Brushing off the criticism she has received for her outfits in the past, Amanda insisted she's never going to please everyone.

She said: 'I’m aware not many TV shows would allow me to have so much fun with my wardrobe so I make the most of it!'

Amanda's most outrageous outfits and controversial moments on Britain's Got Talent

Amanda's wardrobe has led to some controversial moments in the past after a daring Julien Macdonald gown she wore during the semi-final of BGT two years ago attracted a staggering 663 Ofcom complaints.

The plunging floor-length dress was slashed to the navel, with a cut-out panel that reached down to the small of her back - and came under fire when furious viewers deemed it 'inappropriate'.

But despite the £11,000 ensemble causing hundreds of viewers to complain to Ofcom, the media regulator decided not to investigate.

Ofcom said that while it recognised the dress 'had potential to offend some viewers during what is a family show' - the outfit 'would not have exceeded most viewers' expectations'.

And this wasn't the first time risque outfit choices on Britain's Got Talent caused fans to lodge official complaints.

In 2016, Ofcom again decided not to investigate the ITV show after outfits worn by Holden and fellow judge Alesha Dixon sparked 90 complaints from viewers.

Amanda also found herself the subject of Ofcom complaints earlier in the week.

Yet taking a light-hearted approach to her F-bomb, the TV presenter joked to hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly: 'I've washed my mouth out with soap, so we're all good!'

Amanda was forced to apologise to viewers after she swore during a terrifying act by The Haunting the evening before.

But expressing her profuse remorse was seemingly not enough for some fans, who wasted no time lodging complaints with governing media watchdog, Ofcom.

At the time of writing, 192 fans have been in touch with the regulating body - although only 38 of these were directly in reference to Amanda's use of the 'f-word'.

The other 154 had more of a problem with the nature of the spooky act, which saw Amanda led into a basement to be terrified by women dressed as ghosts. MailOnline have approached Ofcom for further comment.

Amanda was left trembling with fear as contestant Elizabeth took her off to perform the stunt, live on TV.

Moments later, the former Kiss Me Kate actress issued an apology for her outburst as she stated: 'I really want to apologise for saying a terrible word. I know my kids are watching so I apologise for that. I can honestly say I feel terrified.'

During the contestant's performance, the presenter met the ghost of Agatha's 11-year-old daughter, with the apparition creepily singing Rock-A-Bye Baby, before a mirror suddenly shattered.

Following her apology, fellow judge Simon Cowell poked fun at the star's blunder as he joked: 'It was like being next door to you on your honeymoon night.'
