Queen Letizia opted for minimal make up and simple, silver drop earrings for the royal outing on Saturday.

Appearing in high spirits, Letizia smiled as she greeted attendees at the event which commemorated 30 years of overseas peace-keeping missions.

A sweet photograph taken of the moment shows Letizia gently caressing the girl's cheek as she passed.

Queen Letizia also delivered a masterclass in mixing a polished wardrobe staple with a casual classic when she stepped out in a blouse and skirt.

The knee-length skirt featured trendy contrast seams and tied with a flattering bow at the waist.

Meanwhile her floaty, feminine blouse cut at the shoulder, making the most of the royal's toned arms.
