Sophie Frampton, from Leigh-on-Sea in Essex, claims she was handcuffed, strip searched, and held without her medication in a jail in Austin, Texas. Terrifying footage shows the moment passengers topple from a towering cruise ship after it barrelled into a tourist river boat on a busy canal in Venice and injured four female tourists as they tried to run away. The MSC Opera cruise liner (left and right) was apparently unable to halt its momentum, and ploughed into the much smaller tourist river boat River Countess (right) at about 8.30 am on the Giudecca Canal. The baby boy who was cut from his mother's stomach in a shocking Chicago 'womb raider' attack is now breathing without the help of a machine.    Yovani Lopez, who is now six weeks old, was near death when he was ripped from the stomach of his mother, Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, after she was strangled by Clarisa Figueroa on April 23.  Figueroa then pretended to be Yovani's own mother, taking the dying infant to The Advocate Christ Medical Center, as he was struggling to breathe. He was promptly placed in intensive care. 

Ms Lawrence (inset), 35, disappeared on March 19 2009. Her case led to a £1million murder inquiry and the latest disclosure is partly why police believe her killer was someone who knew her. Sources connected to North Yorkshire Police's investigation revealed Ms Lawrence's Samsung D900 phone connected to a mast at nearby York University - where she worked - when her manager called her at 10am to find out where she was. This was four hours after she had been due to start her 6am shift. The call from her concerned manager placed her handset in a nine-mile area from the university to Tockwith village, including her home in Heworth. Two hours after the call, at 12.10pm, mobile phone records indicate that Ms Lawrence's phone was switched off, though it is not known where it was at the time.

Three Chinese warships (pictured) with 700 sailors on board will spend the next four days docked in Sydney Harbour on an unannounced visit. Sydneysiders have reacted with surprise to the sudden appearance of a People's Liberation Army frigate, an auxiliary replenishment ship, and an amphibious vessel docked at Garden Island. The warships docked at the Royal Australian Navy base was approved by the federal government last week, which played down the visit.

Today mourners filed past the coffin of former Arsenal striker Jose Antonia Reyes, paying their respects at the wake held at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium in Seville, home to Reyes' first club, Sevilla. The Spain international died in a car crash on Saturday morning near his hometown of Utrera near Seville, which also took the life of his cousin and left another family member seriously injured. His funeral will take place tomorrow in Utrera which has declared two days of mourning to mark the passing of its most famous son. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the Daily Mail have gone through the archives to see how the historic events were covered. Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944 and began the process of liberating mainland Europe from the Nazis. A number of events have been planned for the 75th anniversary of the landings.

As many as 255 Normandy veterans are being taken across the English channel on a Voyage of Remembrance to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day (Pictured bottom in front of a statue named 'embracing peace'). The ship, MV Boudicca, departed on Sunday evening ahead of a week of events to mark the anniversary of the biggest amphibious invasion in history. Chartered by the Royal British Legion, her bows were decorated with the red poppy insignia. Onboard each veteran, accompanied by a guest or carer, have comfy beds, two swimming pools and a choice of three restaurants to dine in during the poignant pilgrimage. Sir Rod Stewart will perform for the Second World War veterans on the ship before it leaves (Top) - serenading them with his 1975 hit Sailing. His celebrity photographer wife Penny Lancaster, 49, was also seen having a photo with one of the veterans (inset).

Ai-Da's (pictured with her creator, Aidan Meller, left) solo exhibition Unsecured Futures, which opens at Oxford University from June 12, will showcase a selection of the robot's work, developed using AI processes and algorithms. The artwork will include drawing, painting, sculpture and video art, exploring the boundaries between AI, technology and organic life. 'Pioneering a new AI art movement, we are excited to present Ai-Da, the first professional humanoid artist, who creates her own art, as well as being a performance artist,' said Aidan Meller, Ai-Da's brainchild and gallery owner.

Franklin Pierce University senior CeCe Telfer clinched the women's 400-meter hurdles national title at the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 25 in Kingsville, Texas. Telfer, who was born and raised as Craig, competed in the men's division as recently as January 2018 before undergoing gender reassignment surgery prior to the 2019 season. Telfer's triumph sparked controversy in the running world as many believe transgender athletes competing in women's sports have an unfair advantage.

Liam Stuart, 28, and his fiancée Kelsie, 27, immediately asked to be transferred from the SuneoClub hotel (pictured bottom left as advertised on its website and top left and right as appalled tourists found it) on the Costa Brava after shelling out £2,600 for a two-week trip to celebrate Mr Stuart's recovery from a stroke. The couple didn't even unpack their bags before leaving. Some holidaymakers were so appalled they flew home immediately. Mr Stuart said: 'The hotel looks nothing like the pictures on the website. There are walls where plasterboard is hanging off and plaster all over the floor. It's just an absolute building site.'

James Corden put his own spin on the classic 1980s musical Les Misérables for Crosswalk: The Musical in Paris on Saturday. The Late Late Show host led the peasant's revolt as Marius Pontmercy marching near the Arc de Triomphe with his group of rebels, while the enemy brandished baguettes as filming for the spoof got well under way.  James, 40, later transformed into Fantine and hacked at his brunette wig, to portray the single mother's plight of trying to source funds for her daughter. 

Sicily's Mount Etna's last eruption was six months ago when minor earthquakes caused extensive damage to nearby buildings. But the latest blasts are happening close to the summit. Eugenio Privitera, the director in Catania of Italy's National Institute of Geophsyics and Volcanology, says visitors to the mountain will have to be kept away for their own safety. He says the latest active phase could be over quickly, or go on for months. Etna is a popular tourist destination and its eruptions, especially when seen at night, are spectacular to watch. Dozens of nude models protested against the Facebook and Instagram ban on female nipples with New York City gathering that was coordinated by controversial artist Spencer Tunick. In collaboration with the National Coalition Against Censorship, also known as #WeTheNipple, Tunick took photos of the models during a Sunday morning demonstration outside the Astor Place train station in Manhattan. Several photos show the naked men and women holding nipple signs in the air while lying on the ground. The women were shielding their own nipples with images of male nipples that Tunick calls 'donated nipples'. Artists Andres Serrano and Paul Mpagi Sepuya, Bravo's Andy Cohen, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and Tunick himself all donated photos of their nipples for the signs. Other photos show the models standing in a group gripping the signs as Tunick captures every moment.

A small plane carrying only its pilot made an emergency crash landing on a beach in New Jersey on Saturday. It's not yet known why the pilot, who was not injured, was forced to land on the sand. The plane can be seen in video shot by bystander Joan Samonisky touching down at around 8.35am on the beach at 49th street before coming to an abrupt stop. The plane then tipped up onto its wing momentarily (shown), before stopping again upright on its landing gear (inset). The pilot then exited the plane, seemingly unharmed. The aircraft sustained minor damage in the landing.
