Caitlyn Jenner and gal pal Sophia Hutchins sport casual sweats during a lunch date in Malibu

They're inseparable pals who live together, but they insist there's nothing romantic going on.

Caitlyn Jenner was spotted with friend Sophia Hutchins on Sunday afternoon as the two had lunch at Kristy's restaurant in Malibu.

The 69-year-old former Olympic decathlete and her 23-year-old companion were dressed casually in sweats for the relaxed day out.

Caitlyn looked like she might have come from a workout, with a long sleeve white shirt and a pair of black Adidas track pants.

She had on a sporty pair of white trainers and carried along a large black handbag.

Her chestnut locks were styled straight and cascade over the front of her shirt, and she covered up with a large pair of dark sunglasses.

Sophia was dressed in all-black, with a black hoodie over a pair of black leggings.

She also had on a set of white tennis shoes, and her blonde locks were held back in a bun with a few dangling strands framing her face.

Though they've been reticent to clear up the nature of their relationship, Sophia has been a constant presence in Caitlyn's $3.5M Malibu hilltop home, where she serves as the executive director of Caitlyn's foundation.

Back in October, the registered Republican opened up about the status of their relationship.

'I wouldn't describe it as a romantic relationship,' Sophia explained on The Hidden Truth with Jim Breslo.

'I would describe our relationship as we're partners — we're business partners. We have so much in common; we see the world so similarly and we both are such a good match for each because we challenge each other.

'She challenges me in so many ways, has allowed me to grow in so many ways and I hope I challenge her to grow and I think because we share so many of the same passions and views, it's just a great match, a great partnership.'

Positive change: Caitlyn spoke Friday at a panel on media depictions of mental illness at the University of South California, delving into the pain she felt pre-transition and how her life has improved since she came out as a transgender woman

Speaking Friday at the University of South California for a panel on media depictions of mental illness, Caitlyn delved into the isolation she felt being transgender before the term was even widely known.

'I couldn’t talk to anybody about it — nobody. I had been trying to deal with this on my own,' she said, via The Hollywood Reporter.

'Growing up and having difficulty with your identity, in the '50s, '60s, even in the '70s, people didn’t even give it a name. They didn’t know what it was, so you keep your mouth shut and you keep moving on.

'But I’ve always had to deal with it… For six years one time, I kind of put myself away in my house because I didn’t feel like I fit in anywhere. And I said 'Am I going to sit out here and rot? Or am I going to live my life authentically?''

But the Olympian and reality star offered hope for the lives transgender individuals could lead once they started transitioning.

'There’s a good life out there. I just wake up in the morning and be myself all day. It’s so simple!' she gushed.

'But my life was so complicated before, trying to play all these different roles in life. But a lot of people when they’re dealing with these things, they don’t realize that you have to get through it. And life can be really good on the other side.'
