From Tinseltown to the tuckshop! Chris Hemsworth gushes over his new job working at the canteen in his children's school... as he takes the rest of the year off to stay at home

Chris Hemsworth is one of the world's most famous Hollywood actors.

But for the rest of the year, he'll be swapping the big screen for a job at his children's school canteen in Byron Bay, Australia.

'My wife runs the Monday and Tuesday session there, and has rambled me into it,' said Chris of partner Elsa Pataky to Nova's Fitzy & Wippa on Tuesday.

Chris, 35, continued: 'I can't say I'm very consistent with my appearances there [so far], I've done it a couple of times... it's good fun.'

Joking about how Elsa is a bigger draw to pupils, he added: 'The teenage kids tend to hang out in the tuckshop a bit more when she's there [laughs].'

Chris and Elsa, who relocated from Los Angeles to Byron Bay after marrying in 2010, are parents to India, six, and twin boys Tristan and Sasha, five.

Chris, who is currently promoting Men In Black: International, admitted that he will be taking the rest of the year off to focus on his family.

'I have this year where I'm probably not going to shoot anything. I have a press tour, a few endorsements and bits and pieces, but mostly just be home,' said Chris.

'If you went back 10 years and asked me what would be my dream scenario, this is kind of it. I can now sit back, enjoy and appreciate it, and stop chasing [movies].'

Concluding the interview, Chris added how his family are the first thing he takes into consideration when looking for his next big role.

He added: 'These days, honestly, one of my my first questions is location.'

'My kids now are all in school and we're planted in Australia and it's getting harder to leave.'
