It's clear that the cast is growing up in the tableau, topped by a scrunchie-clad Eleven appearing to use her powers.

Below the series' leading lady, played by the incomparable Millie Bobby Brown, sits her love interest Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard).

The next tier of characters shows the rest of the gang looking set for summer, showing Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) wielding a slingshot while Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) is equipped with a headset.

Besides them are a concerned looking Max (Sadie Sink) and Will (Noah Schnapp), while on-screen and IRL couple Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) and Nancy (Natalia Dyer) peek out from the corner.

Meanwhile, newcomer Robin (Maya Hawke) is seen to the right of a sailor suit-clad Steve (Joe Keery).

To the left, Lucas' sister Erica (played Priah Ferguson) looks like she's graduated from bit character to part of the main ensemble after a number of scene-stealing moments in season two.

David Harbour recently promised big things from the eight-episode run, telling fans the finale is the 'most moving' episode of the entire series.

'Millie [Eleven] is growing up and I think that's the terrifying thing for Hopper. He doesn't like the idea of his baby daughter hanging out with boys,' Harbour said during an appearance at MCM Comic-Con, according to DigitalSpy .

'So the season starts with him a little bit uncomfortable.'

'His daughter is becoming a teenager and beginning to find herself, so that's scarier for Hopper than any Demogorgon creature that he's going to have to deal with.'

The official show synopsis describes season three saying: 'It’s 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana, and summer's heating up,' revealed Netflix's press release about the upcoming season.

'School's out, there’s a brand new mall in town, and the Hawkins crew are on the cusp of adulthood. Romance blossoms and complicates the group’s dynamic, and they'll have to figure out how to grow up without growing apart.'

It continued: 'Meanwhile, danger looms. When the town’s threatened by enemies old and new, Eleven and her friends are reminded that evil never ends; it evolves. Now they’ll have to band together to survive, and remember that friendship is always stronger than fear.'
