Hilary Duff's fiance Matthew Koma blasts DJ Zedd as 'toxic and self-serving' for the reason they no longer work together: 'He's the worst'

Matthew Koma is setting the record straight on why he hasn't worked with Zedd after helping him soar to mainstream success with hits like Spectrum and Clarity in 2012.

In a lengthy social media rant, Koma talked about wanting to be transparent about their relationship, at times praising Zedd( real name Anton Zaslavski) for his talents as an artist: 'I'm extremely proud of the work he and I did together.'

But despite all the success the pair experienced as collaborators, Hilary Duff's musician fiance also described the Russian-German record producer as 'toxic and self-serving', so much so that 'it occupied the space where any happiness could exist.'

The singer-songwriter, who got engaged to Duff last month, co-wrote a number of songs with Zedd.

But Koma said any good feelings towards those songs 'have all but disappeared' due to Zedd's behavior after the success they had with their first two singles that were released on Zedd's Interscope Records debut.

'It's not that dramatic of a story and it comes down to something simple,' Koma said. 'Sh**** people suck and when they're successful, people are afraid to blow the whistle.'

Koma went on give a number of examples of how Zedd's behavior, and what he called his 'inferior complex', contributed to their fallout as collaborators.

The Winnetka Bowling League frontman said Zedd took 'all the credit' during interviews for several of the songs they worked on together.

'[It] felt confusing because the millions of people who connected to Clarity and those other songs, seemed to connect to the lyrics / emotion / melodies I had written,' he confessed.

'For years I thought maybe it was me, but over time, I'd run into other people who worked with him - other writers / singers / producers/ Dj's / People on his own team...and the sentiment was shared. He's the worse.'

Koma, 32, added: 'With millions and millions of dollars and so many hit songs, you'd think you could afford to treat people with kindness and appreciate their role in helping you achieve your dream.'

As for the countless times he has been asked about teaming up with Zedd on more music, the New York native all put an end to the years of talk and chatter.

'I'd rather work at Starbucks and clean toilets than ever experience that abusive dynamic again,' he said.

'Toxicity doesn't breed happiness. Alexa, play Happy Now. Actually please don't.'
