A resort in the Dominican Republic revealed that a badly beaten American tourist sought a multi-million dollar compensation package before she publicly shared her version of the attack four months later.

Tammy Lawrence-Daley, 51, alleged she was strangled, beaten and left for dead during the second night of her January vacation stay at the Majestic Elegance in Punta Cana.

The Delaware mother-of-two, who was vacationing at the all-inclusive Caribbean resort, alleged that she was attacked by a man wearing the uniform of the hotel and left for dead following an hour-long brutal assault.

On Tuesday, the Majestic Elegance Punta Cana said that the resort staff 'rigorously implemented the security protocol that is stipulated when a guest is reported to be in trouble' once it was reported that Lawrence-Daley disappeared.

According to Dominican outlet Listin Diario, Lawrence-Daley requested a $2.2 million payment from the resort and then shared her story on social media once the hotel turned down her request.

DailyMail contacted the Majestic Elegance Punta Cana for comment.

The resort where Lawrence-Daley was staying, the Majestic Elegance Punta Cana, said in a statement that it made sure a hotel staffer was present at the woman's side while she was hospitalized

'As stated by the woman, she was intercepted by a stranger shortly after 11 pm, but Mr. Christopher Daley reported her disappearance at 2.30am and in a few minutes a search operation was initiated through the entire property, and she was found at 6.40am,' the hotel said in a statement Tuesday.

The luxury hotel's statement explained that an employee located the American woman in a restricted area of the hotel and an ambulance transported her to a local hospital.

'She had bruises on her face and a broken little fingernail. She had no scratches or other signs of violence on her body, [and was] carrying her wallet and cell phone with her.'

In a lengthy Facebook post detailing the attack, Lawrence-Daley shared photos of her gruesome, bruised and bloodied facial injuries.

She said she stepped out of her room at 10:30pm local time to get a snack and take a snap of the moon from the beach before she was attacked and went missing for eight hours.

According to Lawrence-Daley, her husband, Christopher Daley, and friends went to the resort's front desk three times before security would agree to make even the most cursory search for her, she said, suggesting that she was drunk and sleeping it off somewhere.

Lawrence-Daley said she remembers being 'plowed into from behind' and felt her attacker's arms around her as he pulled her into a nearby unlocked maintenance room.

'I fought with everything I had at that moment. He was too strong. The next eight hours brought me pain and fear,' she said on her Facebook post.

Lawrence-Daley said she can remember being strangled multiple times and that she repeatedly fell unconscious.

The Magestic Elegance Punta Cana also corroborated last Friday's claim from Dominican Republic Attorney General's Office that Lawrence-Daley declined to file a formal complaint.

'A delegate from the United States embassy visited Mrs. Lawrence-Daley during her stay in the hospital, but she refused to present a legal accusation despite the recommendations of the local authorities,' the resort said.

The Majestic Elegance Punta Cana said it made sure hotel representatives were on-site at the medical facility during Lawrence-Daley's hospitalization and upon her return to the resort special foods were prepared because she trouble swallowing.

'Majestic Resorts paid for all hospital expenses and offered Mrs. Lawrence, her husband and her fellow travelers a complimentary extension of their stay at the hotel for the time necessary to recover and arrange their departure from the country.'

On Monday, Dominican Republic national police chief spokesman Col. Frank Durán said 'there is a lot of conjecture about the case, a lot of information that doesn't match some of the statements.'

The suggestions come after Lawrence-Daley and her husband accused local police of bungling the investigation, with reports that a rape test was administered 48 hours after the alleged attack, among a slew of other criticisms.

The shocking allegation was labeled an 'isolated incident' by the Dominican Republic's Foreign Affairs Minister, Miguel Vargas Maldonado, but at the same time 'worries Dominican authorities'.

Three other Americans were found dead at the same resort in La Romana in late May.

Miranda Schaup-Werner, 41, a psychotherapist from Allentown, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 25 after getting a drink from the mini-bar while enjoying the celebration of her ninth wedding anniversary with her husband

Maryland couple Cynthia Day, 49, and Nathaniel Holmes, 63, were discovered dead at their hotel room at the all-inclusive Gran Bahia Principe five days later.  Police found bottles of high blood pressure medications in the room.

Autopsies performed on Day and Holmes found their cause of death to be the same as Schaup-Werner: respiratory failure and pulmonary edema.
