He's known for his intense physical comedy in Hollywood movies.

And Kevin Hart proved he's just as high energy on breakfast TV shows on Thursday, when he turned a segment about dogs on Sunrise into utter pandemonium.

The U.S. comedian, 39, started shrieking when faced with a large South African Bullmastiff and yelled, 'This is why white people die!', before trying to hide behind the studio set.

'This is why white people die!' Sunrise descended into CHAOS on Thursday after comedian Kevin Hart screamed at a large dog and even tried to hide during a bizarre segment

Kevin was partnered with the dog, called 'Rockstar', while his Secret Life of Pets 2 co-star Tiffany Haddish was paired with a French bulldog named 'Dottie'.

The aim of the challenge was for the two actors to 'groom' their dogs, dress them up and take a selfie with them in just two minutes.

Kevin recoiled when he saw Rockstar, saying: 'Have you got a mouthpiece on that one?'

Sunrise co-hosts Samantha Armytage and David Koch did their best to reassure him that the animal was 'very friendly'.

But Kevin was still frightened and started circling the studio to get away from Rockstar, even trying to hide behind the set.

Samantha said: 'Kevin, come back here! We promise we won't put you in danger!'

However, when Rockstar began barking, Kevin lost it completely and started screaming manically.

'Stop yelling!' Samantha pleaded, as the segment descended into chaos. 'We will calm him down. We promise we won't let you get hurt!'

After emerging from behind the set, a visibly-shaken Kevin said: 'I just want go on record... that this is why white people die.

'You all stay right there and nobody take those dogs seriously at all. That dog would have snatched you all from the set!'

Kevin was appearing on Sunrise with Tiffany to promote their latest film, The Secret Life of Pets 2, which is currently screening in Australia.
