New mum Meghan attends Trooping the Colour

Meghan Markle has arrived alongside Prince Harry (pictured centre) for Trooping the Colour in her first public appearance since revealing Prince Archie to the world. The couple were whisked away from Buckingham Palace in a carriage to the Horse Guards Parade to join the Royal Family - and thousands of spectators - to watch 1,400 troops, 400 musicians and 200 horses march in the parade. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were joined in their carriage by Kate Middleton (inset, sporting a bespoke Alexander McQueen dress and Philip Treacy hat) who beamed and waved at crowds of wellwishers who came to watch the parade. The Queen (left), who celebrated her 93rd birthday in April, came in one of her luxurious horse-drawn carriages (left) and will inspect the lines of guardsmen in their scarlet tunics and bearskins (inset) as part of the tradition.

Melania Geymonat, 28, and her American partner Chris, 29, were left bloodied and bruised after being punched and robbed following an evening out in West Hampstead, north west London, in the early hours of May 30 (bottom left, after the attack). Despite being just days removed from the assault, users took to Facebook and Twitter to leave vile comments, blaming the women for 'bringing it on themselves'. 'That's what you get for being gay', Ryan Bennett wrote underneath an article on Facebook. Chisomo Chitete said: 'No wonder my brother still can't find a girl to marry. All the girls have been taken by girls'. Danzil Denno, replying to a CNN story on twitter, wrote: 'Don't do that in public. See now the results of being silly?' But the defiant couple say, despite the attack and torrent of insults online, they 'are not scared to be visibly queer'.

Roy Gibney, 64, a former sheet metal worker, scooped his millions in July 1998, and immediately splashed out on a six-bedroom mansion in Barnoldby-le-Beck, Lincolnshire (bottom right). He had his winning numbers tiled on the bottom of an indoor swimming pool (top right with former girlfriend Meaka Edwards), spent £50,000 on a racehorse and bought expensive cars (inset with daughter Lisa buying a Lexus LS300) - but his good fortune then came to an end with his divorce from second wife Darlene Shand, 45, in 2014. Michael Gove told the Mail he had taken drugs about 20 years ago when he worked as a journalist and before he was married. He became an MP in 2005 and entered government as education secretary in 2010. Mr Gove, 51, insisted his past mistakes should not be held against him as he battles to replace Theresa May as prime minister. 'It was 20 years ago and yes, it was a mistake,' he said. 'But I don't believe that past mistakes disqualify you.' He made his admission ahead of publication of a book about him by political journalist Owen Bennett - extracts of which are exclusively published in today's Mail. Ismet Dil, 69, whose company Scogna Formal Wear has provided dinner jackets and tails to America's leaders for a century, claimed he didn't recognise the suit, which was heavily mocked online. 'This is my profession. It's not right,' he said. 'I don't care if he is president. Someone is responsible - somebody helped him get dressed like that.' Trump chose to wear a ludicrously long white waistcoat, paired with a tux jacket that stopped halfway up his midriff and featured overlong sleeves. Patrick Murphy, the head cutter at Davies and Son, who are based in Savile Row, London, told MailOnline that 'everything you can imagine' was wrong with Trump's tuxedo. 'It's totally disproportionate to his height and girth,' he said. 'The waistcoat is far too long, it should not show underneath his jacket. The sleeves are covering his hands, they should be an inch shorter. It looks like he has borrowed from three different suits.'

First Lady's double proves you can get a millionaire look without The Donald's wallet

ALICE SMELLIE: As this week's UK state visit proved, the First Lady always looks impeccably stylish. While I'd love to dress like her, with some of her outfits costing north of £50,000 a time, there's little chance of me picking up the same pieces. Perhaps this budget Melania could imitate her wardrobe for a knock-down price. After searching the High Street and online retailers for her state visit looks, I discovered it is possible to look positively presidential without breaking the bank.

Into the Apocalypse: A haunting dispatch from Chernobyl's ground zero

RICHARD PENDLEBURY: After the Apocalypse, it is clear that Nature will triumph. The post-Chernobyl universe I am standing in now, the abandoned village of Zalissya, once home to 3,000 people, has been swallowed by the forest. It's a captivating wilderness of pine trees, wild pansies and painted lady butterflies. Large mammals such as bison, moose, lynx, deer, wolves and brown bears roam here unthreatened. They know when their worst enemy -man - has long gone. We walk past collapsed homes; in one I see sheets of music scattered over the floors, while a Lada car rusts outside another, waiting for an owner who will never return. War hero who flirted with Melania Trump reveals his captivating life story

TOM RAWSTORNE: Thomas Cuthbert, pictured in his uniform bottom left, found himself re-tracing the passage he took 75 years ago as an 18-year-old able seaman on board a landing barge oiler (LBO) heading to the French coast from Poole in Dorset. The vessel was used to store and transport fuel for the landing craft that ferried the soldiers to the of Normandy beaches. While LBO may not be a term familiar to many today, when Thomas was introduced to the Queen, she knew what he was talking about. Raised in Bethnal Green in London's East End, he had joined the Navy aged 17, in 1943, having worked as a messenger in the ARP, the body responsible for protecting civilians from air raids. 'She knew the history of it,' says Thomas. 'She laughed and said: 'You were on a floating bomb!' ' Given that the barge carried 40 tons of fuel and could travel at only five knots (a little under 6mph), Her Majesty wasn't wrong. I ask Thomas his memories of that momentous day in June 1944.
