Margot Robbie is unrecognisable in an androgynous shot as she debates starring in a Tarantino movie despite having 'more creative control' with her female-focused production company

She portrays actress Sharon Tate opposite Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

And, Margot Robbie was unrecognisable in a chic androgynous shot in the July issue of Vogue, which was released on Thursday, as she debated starring in the Quentin Tarantino movie despite having being in a 'position of power' and having 'more creative control' with her own female-focused production company.

The actress, 28, switched up her blonde locks for a grown-out brunette pixie cut and donned a 20s style three-piece trouser suit for the powerful black-and-white image, whilst discussing achieving her 'lifelong dream' of working with the iconic director.

The triple threat threw one hand up in a stern expression as she frowned while looking downwards in the memorising photograph.

Once Upon a Time is the first of Tarantino's films not produced by Harvey Weinstein, and is also the director's first release since the #MeToo movement and since, what Margot described to Vogue as: 'The Uma Thurman thing.'

The actress - who owns production company LuckyChap Entertainment with her husband, Tom Ackerly - spoke candidly about her feelings towards working with Tarantino, after Uma Thurman detailed her eye-brow-raising experience of the director's quest for authenticity.

Margot told the publication she was reassured by the fact that Tarantino helped make public the footage of Uma Thurman's car crash on the set of 2013's Kill Bill.

She admitted: 'But the thought definitely crossed my mind. Like, Will people view this decision as conflicting with what I'm doing on the producing side? I don't know,'

Margot confessed she found it difficult to describe her feelings towards her situation, adding: 'I'm so grateful to be in a position of power and to have more creative control when that is embraced and encouraged now.

'At the same time, I grew up adoring movies that were the result of the previous version of Hollywood, and aspiring to be a part of it, so to have those dreams come true also feels incredibly satisfying. I don't know. Maybe I'm having my cake and eating it too. . . .'

Margot insisted that, while it would be 'easier' not to have her own production company, it would be much less fulfilling.

With her reputation as well as eye-watering amounts of 'other people's money' at stake, the actress insisted that she doesn't regret the choice to persevere and to be able to champion first - and second-time female directors.

She added: 'On the flip side—and it doesn't even feel like a flip side—it was my lifelong dream [to work with Tarantino], and I got to do it, and it makes me sad if people might hold that against me despite everything else I'm doing.'

Early last year, Uma told The New York Times that she had been assaulted by Harvey Weinstein, and that her relationship with Tarantino had suffered as a result.

The actress also held Weinstein's studio, Miramax, responsible for injuries she sustained in a car crash on the set of Kill Bill in 2013, and for concealing footage of the incident that she ultimately released herself.

According to Uma, she'd requested that a stunt double drive the car, but in a quest for authenticity, Tarantino insisted the actress do it herself.

Further details from the film included Uma being spat on in one scene, and being choked with a chain in another.

Tarantino has never been accused of sexual misconduct or harassment. He branded Uma's car crash 'one of the biggest regrets of my life.'

Outside of Birds, Margot also has numerous other projects in the works. From appearing in upcoming films, Ruin and Marian, along with another 50 plus projects on LuckyChap's lineup, The Big Short actress has her hands full... as does her producer husband.

The beauty and her husband slash business partner have been married since 2016, after meeting two years prior while promoting The Wolf Of Wall Street.
