They co-starred together in the Academy Award winning independent film Little Miss Sunshine.
And Steve Carell, 56, was on hand to honor his old friend Alan Arkin, 85, on Friday, when the veteran actor was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
Arkin rubbed his Magnificent Burt Wonderstone co-star's head affectionately after the younger actor delivered a few words at the podium.

Arkin looked dapper in a gray suit for the Hollywood ceremony.
Foxcatcher star Carell matched his Get Smart co-star's attire in his own charcoal suit.
He bore a handsome salt and pepper scruff on his chin.
Meanwhile, Argo actor Alan was joined by his brother Matthew Arkin as he posed happily in front of his brand new plaque.

Arkin has been nominated for four Academy Awards: twice for Best Actor, for The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming and The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter.
Twice he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor, for Argo and Little Miss Sunshine, which he won.
Arkin has been married three times, with two ending in divorce.
He is currently married to psychotherapist Suzanne Newlander.
