But for country music legend Dolly Parton, the risk of being spotted without her statement eyelashes or plump lips is simply too much.
The singer, 73, revealed she goes to bed in full make-up just in case there is an emergency, and she comes face-to-face with a team of rescuers.

‘You never know if you’re going to wreck the bus, you never know if you’re going to be somewhere in a hotel and there’s going to be a fire,’ she said.
‘So I leave my make-up on at night and clean my face in the morning.’

In interview with the New York Times, she said: ‘With all my hair I got so much to lose, like my wig or my shoes. I don’t like to get messed up. I’m gonna have some handsome man mess it up, I don’t want some ride doing it.’
Last year, Miss Parton admitted she never felt beautiful when she was younger and turned to plastic surgery.
‘I did whatever I needed to build my confidence,’ she said.
The star, who has been married to husband Carl Dean for more than 50 years, also revealed she takes tinned meat, Vienna sausage and Tabasco sauce with her when she travels, explaining: ‘If I can’t eat whatever they’re cooking, I can always have that.’
