'It's bizarre and weird': Former Australian Idol star Rob Mills wants people to stop asking him about THAT Paris Hilton hook-up in 2003

He's perhaps most well-known for his hotel dalliance with famous socialite Paris Hilton.

But for Neighbours actor, Rob 'Millsy' Mills, he's keen to move on from it all.

Talking to Stellar magazine on Sunday, the 36-year-old opened up about the public's 'bizarre' infatuation with his one-time hook-up.

'It's bizarre and weird. It was 16 years ago now,' he said.

'I have had many other partners — well, one long-term partner; I shouldn't say many others — and I would get asked about Paris in front of her by random people,' he added.

And while many men would be happy to gloat about their rendezvous with arguably the world's most famous socialite, Rob doesn't understand the accolade.

'For some reason for blokes it's like: "Hey Millsy, well done mate!", he says as he shook his head, saying: 'For what?'

While Rob may be reluctant to talk about the subject now, he was more open to chat during an appearance ABC's Hard Chat in July last year.

The actor let it slip that he did in fact have sex with Paris, despite claiming previously the pair 'did everything but sex'.

When host Tom Gleeson probed if they had in fact hooked up, Rob answered: 'For the record, yes.'

Paris had a brief relationship with Rob shortly after he rose to fame on the first series of Australian Idol.

Earlier that year, Rob claimed he kept in touch with Paris for a year after their fling, during an appearance on 2Day FM's Rove And Sam.

'For about a year we did and then that was it. We caught up the next time she was (in Australia),' he said.

They first met at an event at Sydney Opera House before heading to an after-party hosted by Osher Günsberg.

Afterwards, they spent the night at Paris's hotel before meeting up again shortly after the Melbourne Cup.

'We did pretty much everything but (sex) and then we caught up at the races a week after,' he told The Sydney Morning Herald at the time.
