Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are working on new horror movie Svalta 15 years after the release of their first film collaboration Shaun of the Dead

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost look set to reunite as Orion Pictures has acquired the rights to their horror pitch Svalta.

The pair co-wrote the popular Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy together, also known as the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy, made up of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End.

According to Deadline, Svalta tells the story of a family who go on holiday to an isolated Swedish island where they discover a serial killer is on the loose.

To their dismay, the locals seem to have no interest in helping the tourists during their time on the fictional island which the project is named after.

Nick is said to be penning the screenplay along with Stolen Picture creative directors James Serafinowicz and Nat Saunders, which is the pair's production company.

Orion Pictures president John Hegeman said the project has a similar sensibility to the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy films.

He said: 'We are unbelievably excited to be partnering with Simon, Nick and Miles on Svalta.

'The story is scary, awesome and crazy, and their unique voice is perfect for this movie. We can’t wait to bring this to the big screen with them.'

Former Fox Searchlight executive Miles Ketley, who works with Simon and Nick on Stolen Pictures, said: 'Orion is the perfect home for the horrifying vision that Nick has conjured up from his maverick brain.'

Simon and Nick have been working together for 20 years, with their first project together being the 1999 sitcom Spaced which was co-written by Simon.

They later worked with director Edgar Wright on their film trilogy, who previously explained how the films got their name.

He said: 'At the [Shaun of the Dead] after party they gave out free Strawberry Cornettos (as featured in the movie) so me and Simon contrived to mention Cornettos in the next one as a way of getting more free ice cream next time around... (we didn't).'
