The fainting episode happened as festival director Thierry Fremaux introduced actor Francois Civil, and Dakota quickly helped her up before 'security whisked them away.'
Eyewitnesses told Variety that Fanning's fainting caused the festivities to be, 'briefly paused as a hush fell over the crowd.'
Actor Colin Firth was said to be nearby and offered his assistance, while actress Marion Cotillard, 'placed a hand over her heart'.
Fanning later took to her Instagram, sharing a snap of her smiling self giving a thumbs up signal, while explaining that she's OK.
