Tom Hanks and Tim Allen unite to talk about their long friendship in new Toy Story 4 promo

They've been voicing the characters of Woody and Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story films since 1995. 

And Tom Hanks and Tim Allen united on Friday to discuss their friendship in a promotional video for Toy Story 4. 

Talking about their long working relationship, Hanks, 62, said the pair, 'end up sort of like, speaking this secret language'.

When asked when the duo first met, Cast Away star Tom said to Allen, 65, 'I don't recall the first time meeting you'.

'That was so long ago'.

The Oscar winner quipped, 'You have been Buzz for what, 45 years?' which made his Home Improvement star pal laugh.

Continued Hanks, 'So we don't necessarily say "Hey how're you doing?"'

Instead, he claimed, the pair enjoyed their own 'secret language'.

When asked to describe one another using just one word, Tim went with 'Skilled' to describe Tom.

However Hanks called Allen, 'Cranky'.

'Wow,' said a bemused Allen. 

When asked which character has a better catchphrase, Tim conceded that Buzz Lightyear's 'To infinity and beyond!' was 'one of the greatest lines ever written in the cinema'.

'I have to say Buzz got that end of the deal,' agreed Tim.

As for their initial reactions when offered their respective roles in the 1995 Pixar original film, Tim said 'it was a great story'. 

'I love these characters'.

'I adore our friendship,' concluded the star of The Santa Clause.
