'It shows the honest truth': Big Little Lies' Shailene Woodley, 27, says the hit series portrays how 'females are not nice to each other' a lot of the time
She stars as single mother Jane in hit television series Big Little Lies.
And speaking to News Corp on Saturday, Shailene Woodley said the drama portrays how women are generally not supportive of one another.
'I think it shows the honest truth, which is females are not nice to each other a lot of the time,' the 27-year-old explained.

Shailene also said the timing of the #MeToo movement in Hollywood aligned perfectly with Big Little Lies.

'#MeToo was a grassroots movement but Hollywood lit fire to it in a way,' she told News Corp. 'So the timing and the alignment was so wild in so many beautiful ways.'
The second season of Big Little Lies follows the lives of a group of mostly affluent women living in California - played by Woodley, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern and Zoë Kravitz.

Their lives unravel with issues including domestic violence, affairs and sexual abuse.
Shailene previously detailed to US Vogue how she prepared to play her character Jane, who was raped by her son's father.
'I read countless accounts of women and men who have endured sexual trauma and who live with that every single day,' she said.
'But to be honest, the real insight that I got was from my own personal experiences and those of my closest friends and family.'
'The thing about domestic violence and sexual assault is that no one's safe from it,' Shailene continued.
