Putting together a winning outfit is harder than it seems. 

Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Victoria Beckham almost always get it right, but they also have designer goods, clothing stylists and glam squads at their fingertips. 

And while that's not the case for most of us, there is a lot to learn from our favorite fashion icons that we can apply to our own wardrobes.

But it was underneath the jacket that caught our attention. Victoria donned a cream tank top and navy blue workout leggings (gasp!).

By pairing her activewear with a sleek outer-layer, Celine sunglasses and peep-toe booties, Victoria elevated the feel of the casual bottoms and effortlessly integrated them into her everyday wardrobe.

Takeaway tip: To take your performance clothes from the studio to the streets, team them with tailored garments. Keep the look sleek by sticking to a color palette of nudes, taupes, heather grays, dark blues, or black, and avoid loud prints.

Though she'll be marking a half-century birthday on July 24, that hasn't stopped the 'On The Floor' hitmaker from wearing whatever she wants.

Whether she's on the red carpet, performing or judging a reality television competition, she never ceases to impress, and that's because she dresses for her body. 

She accepted the Fashion Icon Award at the CFDA Awards in New York recently wearing a two-piece set by Ralph Lauren.

The sparkly crop featured 43,000 crystals and showed off her six pack. 

For the premiere of her movie 'Second Act,' she donned a playful pink tulle Giambattista Valli Fall 2018 Haute Couture high-low gown putting perfectly toned pins on full display.

The asymmetrical look complete with deconstructed tailoring had the 'Big Little Lies' actress (known for her bohemian style) looking edgy.

She carried out the daring ensemble by thinking outside the (makeup) box and  wearing bold orange eye shadow.

Janelle Monae is often seen in black and white pantsuits. 

For the Kids Choice Awards, the 'Ugly Dolls' actress walked the orange carpet in her signature shades but ditched pants in favor of a checked Petar Petrov tuxedo blazer worn as a dress.

Like Shailene, Janelle added a pop of color with eye-popping beauty, including teal lashes and neon yellow nails.

Polo shirts are synonymous with upper-class prep or back-to-school uniforms, but Gigi Hadid made the classic look elegant.

The 24-year-old supermodel paired her orange collared top with a coordinating silk skirt and gold heels to attend the Maybelline New York Fashion Week Party.

As one of the newest faces of Stuart Weitzman, Kendall attended the luxury label’s spring ’19 ad campaign party looking all business in an oversized double-breasted blazer and sheer tights. She accessorized the ensemble with short black gloves. 

She proved that fashion has no thermometer donning long printed gloves in the desert heat to the REVOLVE Festival during Coachella.

Takeaway tip: Don't store away your winter gloves now that it's summer. Consider wearing them to add interest to a maxi or cocktail dress for your next soiree.

The wrong accessory can be unflattering 

We can learn from their successes, but we can also learn from their failures!
