'It wasn't about money!' Brynne Edelsten, 36, denies she married millionaire businessman Geoffrey, 76, for his wealth - and says lack of intimacy triggered their divorce
It was the most talked-about wedding of 2009, partly due to its $3million budget and celebrity guests but also because of the couple's staggering 40-year age gap.
But Brynne Edelsten (née Gordon) has revealed that contrary to speculation, she did not marry wealthy businessman Geoffrey Edelsten for his money.
The American socialite, who was 27 when she married a then 67-year-old Geoffrey, told Sunday Night that she had genuine intentions going into the controversial marriage - which later ended in divorce.

'I mean nobody is going to complain about money, let's be honest,' Brynne, 36, said.

'But when it comes down to it, money is convenience. Money doesn't buy happiness, that was a bonus - but it wasn't about that.'
The Melbourne-based former fitness instructor said that ultimately it was a lack of intimacy that drove them apart.

'It wasn't what I expected, but I was married - for better or worse, right?' she said.
Brynne and medical entrepreneur Geoffrey, 76, split in 2014 after six years together, but Brynne claims she never received a divorce settlement.
After the split, she was briefly engaged to comedian Brett Hunter in 2017, before dating a woman named Coby Boatman for around three months.

Brynne has since found love with 52-year-old mechanic Leno Cachia.
'I can't imagine being with someone my own age,' Brynne laughed. 'I've just never been turned on by [men her age].'
Meanwhile, Geoffrey found love with high-flying former prostitute Gabi Grecko, 29, whom he married in 2015.
Sadly, the couple separated four months later and, despite reconciling for a few months last year, are set to divorce.
