Meghan Trainor is left 'devastated' as she mourns the death of one of her closest fans and vows to keep her in her heart 'forever'

Meghan Trainor has been left devastated after the tragic passing of one of her closest fans called Jalisa.

The All About That Bass hitmaker, 25, took to her Instagram account on Tuesday night to mourn the loyal follower's death.

Sharing a collection of throwback pictures with Jalisa, Meghan revealed the fan had been there from the beginning of her career which started in 2009.

She penned: 'I am so devastated by the news of my sweet Jalisa’s passing. Since the very beginning of my career I always had a beautiful familiar face at every single show, all over the world, supporting me and making me smile. 

'Jalisa was always more than just a fan, she treated me like I was one of her best friends and I felt the same about her.'

Meghan added that Jalisa created a global community for fans called Whalebox because she had a whale mail box when she was younger.

She continued: 'She made friends everywhere she went and brought people together from all over the world to a community that they call Whalebox (because growing up I had a whale mail box haha).'

Meghan vowed that Jalisa will forever be in her heart and a member of the 'Megatron family', she said: 'I will never forget Jalisa and she will forever be a member of the Megatron family. 

'My deepest condolences go out to her family and friends. I love you forever and always, Jalisa. I’ll keep you in my heart and bring you to every performance with me forever. ❤️'

Meghan then asked her fans to support and look out for each other as she provided contact details for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline in case any of her followers were struggling.

Meghan's 10.1 million followers were quick to respond to the post and share tributes to Jalisa. 

With a woman, who appeared to be the late fan's sister, Beth, thanking the singer for being an 'amazing friend' to her 'sweet' sibling.

She said: 'Thank you so so so much for being an amazing friend to my sweet sister. You truly made her life amazing and I will cherish and thank you for the rest of my life. We are in this together. Whalebox forever❤️xxxxxxx.'
