Reality star Johnny 'Bananas' Devenanzio takes a page out of Kanye West's book and JUMPS ON STAGE at the 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards

The 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards took place on Saturday in Santa Monica, with the show airing on a two-day tape delay Monday night, which will feature a bizarre and memorable moment.

A report from The Blast on Monday revealed that The Challenge star Johnny 'Bananas' Devenanzio pulled a page out of Kanye West's old playbook, unexpectedly jumping on stage to protest his show The Challenge losing the Reality Royalty award.

His MTV series The Challenge was nominated alongside Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, The Bachelor, Vanderpump Rules and the winner Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.

As the cast of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta took to the stage to accept their award, Bananas also made his way to the stage to make his own speech.

Bananas reportedly ranted on stage for a minute or two, basically claiming that his show had won when it had not.

'We finally won! After all these years, it's about time MTV finally gives The Challenge the recognition it deserves,' he said.

'All the other shows that got nominated are essentially paying rent in the genre we created,' he added.

The Blast's source at the awards ceremony added that the cast members of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta started to remove him from the stage, adding, 'most of that cast, and others, did not know who Johnny Bananas actually was.'

The source added that MTV executives are reportedly 'furious' that Bananas pulled this stunt on their own awards show, and are considering cutting it entirely from the Monday night broadcast.

Still, if MTV is 'furious' with the reality star, who starred in The Real World: Key West before moving over to The Challenge in 2006, Devenanzio doesn't seem concerned.

He took to his Instagram story on Monday afternoon, featuring a snap of him on the 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards red carpet, linking to The Blast's story, stating, 'Warning If you don't like controversy exit immediately.'

He also took to Twitter to share another link to a news story about him storming the stage, even calling out Kanye West himself.

'Checkmate♟ @KanyeWest,' Bananas said, adding the hashtags #MrStealYoAward #MTVAwards while tagging the Twitter handles for MTV and The Challenge.

It is unclear at this time whether or not Bananas will face any disciplinary action for the stunt, but given that he works for MTV and pulled this stunt on an MTV show, it could happen.

The 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards air Monday, June 17 at 9 PM ET on MTV.
