A former Navy SEAL testified about how his comrade stabbed an ISIS prisoner he said looked about 12-years-old during their deployment on Wednesday and claimed the accused also shot at innocent Iraqi civilians.

Sniper Dylan Dille told jurors Wednesday that he believed Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher shot an old man and fired at women walking along a river and a group of people getting water.

It was before he allegedly murdered a young ISIS fighter and posed for photos with his dead body afterwards, they claimed.

Dille said on Wednesday that the fight was aged between 12 or 15. He says he left him in Gallagher's custody then came back and he was dead.

It follows claims on Tuesday from prosecutors who say he texted his friends afterwards and bragged about killing the fighter with his hunting knife.

Gallagher has pleaded not guilty to 40 war crimes including murder and attempted murder.  His attorneys say he is being set up by a group of SEALs who dislike him.

The trial has caught the attention of President Trump and raised the topic of how far members of the military should go on the battlefield.

On Tuesday, defense attorney Tim Parlatore told the jurors: 'This case is not about murder.

'It's about mutiny. He didn't murder or attempt to murder anyone,' he said.

He previously said Gallagher was 'up for the fight' whereas the others were not.

'They wanted Gallagher removed. Reputations are everything on the SEAL Teams, and they were worried about what he would tell people about their performance in Iraq.

'He was calling them "cowards" in country, mostly just to motivate them to get off their asses and fight, and they resented that and worried he’d do that in California - that what happened on deployment wouldn’t stay on deployment.

'They didn’t understand that he wasn’t going to do that,' he told The Navy Times.

Gallagher's wife was there to support him on Wednesday.

She previously said their best defense was 'the truth' and called the trial a 'travesty'.

Trump, who intervened to move Gallagher to less restrictive confinement in March, said last month he is considering a pardon for several American military members accused of war crimes.
