Justin Bieber and Tom Cruise 'really want to' have a fight as UFC's Dana White admits he'd be an 'idiot not to make this' happen

He left fans bemused earlier this month after he challenged the Mission: Impossible star to fight him in a UFC match in what appeared to be a random unprovoked request, later admitting he was joking.

And now it has been claimed that Justin Bieber and Tom Cruise 'really want to' have a fight with UFC's Dana White admitting he'd be an 'idiot not to make this' happen.

Talking to TMZ, the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, said: 'Let me tell you something interesting, obviously this came out, lots of people talk about fighting in the UFC, NFL players or celebrities or whatever, it happens a lot.

'I saw it but didn't pay much attention to it. I'm not gonna say any names but I got a phone call from a couple of real guys who say they really do wanna do this fight and they believe Tom Cruise would do the fight.

'I told them that if that's true - and everybody involved really wants to do it - we can talk.'

He added that he'd be an 'idiot not to make this fight' and it would be the 'easiest' fight to promote in his career.

Earlier this month, Justin left fans feeling bemused as he challenged Tom to fight him in a UFC match in what appeared to be a random unprovoked request.

Taking to Twitter, the 25-year-old singer goaded the actor, 56, into facing him in the ring, calling on the current President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Dana, to host the event.

Justin tweeted: 'I wanna challenge Tom Cruise to fight in the octagon. Tom if you dont take this fight your scared and you will never live it down.

'Who is willing to put on the fight? @danawhite ?'

However, just days later, the husband of Hailey Baldwin admitted he was only 'joking' during an impromptu interview in Los Angeles.

'Naw... I was just joking. It was just a random tweet,' he told TMZ as he rocked a tee with an image of Drew Barrymore from E.T. on it.

The idea for the fisticuffs fantasy popped up after Justin had just seen a video of the Mission: Impossible star.

'The story is... I saw an interview with him. He was on my mind,' the Sorry singer explained.

Twitter: After re-tweeting Justin's post, he added: 'If Tom Cruise is man enough to accept this challenge, McGregor Sports and Entertainment will host the bout. Does Cruise have the sprouts to fight, like he does in the movies? Stay tuned to find out!'

And he even admitted the bout might be a bad idea as action star Tom is known to keep in great shape for his films.

'I'm pretty sure Tom would whoop my as* in the fight,' he quipped. 'I'd have to get in some good shape.'

'He's out of my weight class. He's got that dad strength. Love you Tommy,' he added with a smile.

It's not clear why Justin targeted Tom for the challenge, as there's no evidence the pair have even met before, let alone have any issues they need to take out in the ring.
