WWE Super ShowDown Kickoff Show

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium
-The Kickoff Show was hosted by Charly Caruso in the WWE studios in Stamford, Connecticut. She was joined by David Otunga and Beth Phoenix. Caruso hyped that Super ShowDown would be the equivalent to WrestleMania if not exceed it. They ran through the pay-per-view lineup.
-Footage aired of Brock Lesnar attacking Seth Rollins on Raw and telling Paul Heyman “Friday” regarding a cash-in.
-A Paul Heyman promo aired. He said Rollins paid the price on Monday and now he will pay another price when Lesnar takes away the WWE Universal Championship.
Powell’s POV: So Brock didn’t cash in on Monday because he wanted to split up his punishments for Rollins? Not even Paul Heyman can make sense of this story. Of course, it could end up being a swerve if Lesnar opts to cash-in on Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship instead.
-The panel agreed that Lesnar was trying to play mind games. Otunga said there’s nothing legally stopping Lesnar from toying with Rollins for 300-plus more days.
-Ricochet and Booby Roode’s goatee (farewell pornstache) delivered brief promos about their desire to win the 50-man battle royal.
-A video package focused on the WWE Championship match between Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler. Otunga said Kingston has been grinding, while Ziggler has his hands in other things via his standup comedy.
-The panel discussed “The Demon” Finn Balor vs. Andrade for the Intercontinental Title and set up a video package on the match.
-Byron Saxton interviewed Seth Rollins on an interview set. Rollins had his ribs taped and said he wasn’t 100 percent. Rollins said it is what it is. Saxton asked how the threat of Lesnar cashing in his MITB contract is affecting Rollins’ preparation. Rollins said he would stomp Baron Corbin, and if Lesnar cashes in he’ll be ready for him.
-The panel discussed the Lars Sullivan vs. Lucha House Party handicap match.
-Heavy Machinery and Rusev cut promos about winning the battle royal.
-A video package aired on the Triple H and Randy Orton match.
-A tale of the tape was shown for the Braun Strowman vs. Bobby Lashley match. Caruso said there are “huge bragging rights” on the line. The tale of the tape listed that Braun can benchpress 585 lbs. and Lashley can benchpress 535 lbs.
Powell’s POV: Wimps. I can bench 600 pounds. If you believe that then you probably believe WWE Super ShowDown will be the equivalent if not greater than WrestleMania.
-A Roman Reigns and Shane McMahon video package aired.
-The Undertaker vs. Goldberg match was hyped in a video package.
1. Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso vs. “The Revival” Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder. The Raw broadcast team of Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and Renee Young were on commentary. Cole said it was a late arriving crowd. Cole noted that it’s 94 degrees in Jeddah, and it will feel like 102 degrees in the ring.
Powell’s POV: Say a prayer for sweaty Shane McMahon.
The Usos got out to a quick start, and then the Revival rallied and isolated Jimmy. Cole said Pat McAfee would do well in the broadcast booth in the heat because he wears shorts. Jey took a hot tag and got the better of Dawson. Jey picked up a near fall off a cross body block.
Jey caught Dawson in an inside cradle for a visual pinfall, but the referee was jawing with Wilder. Dawson performed a spinebuster for a two count. Jimmy tagged in and it superkick time with both Usos hitting simultaneous superkicks on Dawson and then Wilder. Jimmy pinned Wilder…
The Usos defeated The Revival in 7:15.
Powell’s POV: A quick and solid tag team match. It’s a shame these teams aren’t having a serious feud over the tag titles. It’s already dark in Jeddah unlike previous events that started a couple hours earlier.
-They went back to the studio where the panel discussed Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon, then delivered final hype for the main show.
