Comedian Roy Hudd , 83, shows off EIGHT STONE weight loss after getting gastric sleeve surgery because he wasn't 'ready to snuff it yet'

Comedy legend Roy Hudd has revealed he lost an incredible eight stone in weight and is 'feeling like a million dollars' after having a gastric sleeve fitted.

The TV and radio personality, 83, was warned by his doctor that he was morbidly obese and urgently needed to shape up, prompting him to take action by getting the surgery because he 'wasn't ready to snuff it yet'.

Roy - best known for his 26-year tenure at the helm of Radio 2 sketch show, The News Huddlines - went from 20 stone down to a trim 12 stone and has never felt better.

He told the Daily Mirror: 'I’d put on so much weight it was ridiculous. I was up to 20st and I’d got diabetes so I really needed to slim down for health reasons.

'But my doctor looked me in the eye and said "oy, you’re never going to diet that lot off are you?" And I said "Probably not, doc."

'So he told me I should have a "gastric sleeve" fitted and I thought... "I’m not ready to snuff it yet" so I had it done and it worked a treat.'

Sleeve gastrectomy is the most common bariatric procedure in the UK these days, and sees most of the stomach removed and the remainder stapled into a small sleeve.

This helps reduce the amount of food needed in order to make you feel full, resulting in smaller portions and weight loss.

Roy revealed he was delighted with the surgery, which has helped curb his appetite while still being able to dine on his favourite dishes like seafood.

He's being helped in his weight loss mission by his wife Debbie, who is 22 years his junior, and the pair even workout together.

'We go to the gym together and she manages to keep up with me!', he joked.
