Real Housewives Of New York City: Dorinda Medley hosts 1980s-themed aerobics class after Miami trip

Dorinda Medley hosted a 1980's-themed aerobics class on Thursday's episode of The Real Housewives Of New York City after a tumultuous group trip to Miami.

Despite what they were going through, the ladies still showed up in hilarious fashion to exercise at 'Lycra And Legwarmers,' in support of 54-year-old Dorinda.

'Aerobics in the '80s was very social, colorful, fun,' said Dorinda, sporting bright makeup and a choppy bob tied in a neon bow, a la Borderline-era Madonna.

The onetime 'popular' aerobics teacher was hosting the workout class with an old pal to raise money for Live Out Loud, a non-profit devoted to empowering LGBTQ youth.

She was joined by Luann de Lesseps, 54; Bethenny Frankel, 48; Sonja Morgan, 55; Ramona Singer, 62; and Barbara Kavovit, 53, all wearing period-perfect ensembles.

'I'm gonna pop a tit!' said Bethenny, exercising in a skintight unitard. 'Make it burn!'

'Push it out! Squeeze! Squeeze!' Dorinda called.

'Now I know why John [Mahdessian, 53] settles for two nights a week,' Bethenny heckled her, teasing her about her dry-cleaner boyfriend.

'You have no idea,' Dorinda said.

Excited attendees, many wearing leotards and legwarmers, were led through classic '80s aerobics moves, with lots of squats, arm rolls and reaching for the sky.

'Dorinda's great, she gets you excited,' said Bethenny, who raised a water bottle with castmates in a toast to their friend after the class. 'I think she should do this for real.'

'Everyone's saying ''You should bring this on the road'',' Dorinda revealed.

Luann, also a former aerobics teacher, was blasé.

'What happens in the '80s should stay in the '80s,' she joked. 'As much as I loved aerobics... it feels kind of dépassé.'

It was, however, a welcome respite from the turmoil of the group's recent Miami trip.

As the episode opened, Bethenny was still in the throes of an anxiety attack following an unexpected volley of insults she'd fired at Luann while the group was out at dinner.

Fed up with her friend's self-absorption, especially after she'd helped her enter rehab for drinking, Bethenny let it all fly.

'Every day, it's about you,' she'd said to Luann on last week's episode, in front of everyone. 'Every f***ing day, about you. Every f***ing second, it's about you.'

Bethenny tried to recover from the shock of unleashing such a massive tirade in the wake of the death of her on/off boyfriend Dennis Shields at age 51 of a suspected drug overdose.

'I don't know what's going on,' she repeated, crying, as concerned castmates gathered around her. 'I don't know what's happening...I want to go home.'

Calling it 'a meltdown,' Ramona suggested it had been building since Dennis' death.

She could feel Bethenny's pain, she added, but it sailed right over Luann's head.

'[Bethenny] actually had an ''a-ha'' moment when she realized that maybe if she gave Dennis what she tried to give Luann, Dennis would be alive,' Ramona explained.

Inside the restaurant, she turned to Luann.

'We know you've been through a lot, but we feel like you don't care about us,' Ramona said.

In a confessional, Dorinda agreed.

'Bethenny said what we've all been wanting to say. There's just so many times we can kiss the ring...I don't think even Cleopatra was adored this much.'

Privately, Luann called them all hypocrites for picking on her while not examining their own behavior. She left, tempted to go drinking, but returned and sat down.

Bethenny apologized to everyone, saying that her blow-up wasn't really about Luann.

'It just occurred to me somewhere in the mix, in the soup of today, the irony of being...in her intervention,' she said.

''I wanted to leave but I couldn't leave,' Luann told the group.

To cameras, she said: 'Standing on the curb outside of the restaurant, I thought, ''Am I going to throw away all this hard work and the sobriety, and all that, for them?'' That's what got me back in. They're not going to win. I'm not going to let them break me.'

She tried to make amends with Bethenny and her friend Barbara, who also felt that Luann had abandoned her over the past week.

Later, she texted and sent them gifts.

Over more cocktails, Bethenny told her she wasn't mad at her, just overwhelmed.

'I'm not mad at you,' she added. 'I'm just sitting here doing me, and I bit off a little more than I could chew, and… I just digested it slowly,. So today, I vomited it out.'

In a confessional, Bethenny clarified: 'I don't know what came over me. Actually, I do know what came over me. A mountain of insufferable comments. Combined with the fact that strangers have been kinder to me about Dennis' passing. Strangers.'

'All the receipts just piled up in one pile. And I went,' she said, making a slicing motion with her hand.

To Luann, she insisted: 'You have to make a change.'

'I am making changes all the time, every single day,' Luann said.

'I would say maybe she'll change,' Bethenny offered to the camera, 'but I don't know. I don't see many leopards walking around with no spots.'

Drink in hand at dinner, she told Luann she felt ashamed.

'Well, everybody had dinner and a show,' shrugged Luann.

'Cabaret life,' chanted Tinsley, with Luann chiming in: 'Life is a cabaret.'

'Life is not a cabaret,' said Bethenny.

Later that night, Tinsley, Ramona and Sonja partied on back at the house.

When Ramona said Tinsley's $3,000 dress made her breasts look flat, the younger woman frowned, drunkenly pulled her top down, and got up on a table to dance.

'Who are you?' Ramona shrieked with joy, as Tinsley flashed her thong. 'Whoa, Tinsley, whoa, whoa, who is that girl who couldn't show her body for s***? Are you kidding me?'

'Good girls gone wild,' Barbara trumpeted with glee.

Sonja noted something else.

She wondered if Tinsley had really broken up with wealthy boyfriend Scott Kluth, founder of CouponCabin.com.

'There's something that doesn't track, because everything in Tinsley's closet on this trip—everything's brand new, and I'm not talkin' TJ Maxx brand-new,' Dorinda said in a confessional. 'I'm talkin', like, Madison Avenue.'

'I'm a math-doer. And it's not adding up to me.'

While the women partied, drunken Dorinda approached Bethenny.

She got her pal to address how profoundly Dennis' death had affected her.

'It was bad,' Bethenny admitted, crying again.

'I think it's important for Bethenny after this explosion, she's got to accept and acknowledge what has gone on,' Dorinda said in a confessional.

'I think a lot of times Bethenny thinks if you run fast enough they're not going to catch you. But they always catch you.'

'You're really highly functional to a point which is almost bizarre,' she said to her friend. 'I don't know if you've ever said to me, ''I'm really really sad that he's dead''.'

'I just want to get through the holidays,' Bethenny told her.

The next morning, as Ramona went off to Miami's Art Basel, and Tinsley went to Palm Beach, Luann did yoga by the pool.

She was still not apologetic about what had happened, saying in a confessional, 'I love my life and I'm not going to let them ruin it.'

The next week, as Bethenny visited Dorinda, she said she'd felt cleansed by it all.

'It felt like I had finally gotten out an emotional release, and something had changed,' she explained.

Luann was shown recording her fourth dance single, Feeling Jovani, with lyrics like:

'One day at a time/Keep it cool and we'll be fine/ One day at a time/Keep your cool, don't lose your mind.'

It was sure to annoy Dorinda, who'd become a part of her cabaret act for providing her with Jovani dresses and calling out 'Jovani!' when attending an early performance.

Unsurprisingly, Ramona later told Luann that none of the cast would be attending her sold-out Christmas cabaret performance at the Gramercy Theatre in New York.

'Basically, we support you, we love you, but we don't really want to sit and see you work,' Ramona said, adding that she would rather 'be social' than 'sit at a table.'

That night, she revealed, she would be throwing a birthday party for Sonja and Dorinda and Luann was naturally upset.

'We had a group text where all of us were saying that we really didn't want to go to Luann's cabaret,' Ramona admitted in a confessional. 'We've already been there several times. We just want to do something where we can all have fun together. So of course I came up with the idea to plan a party. So, sorry.'

'We love you, but we really don't want to go to the show. We want to hang out and have fun,' she told Luann.

'It's a Christmas show, so it's completely different from my show that you saw,' Luann said, obviously hurt.

'I wanted to celebrate with all of them before the holidays and have a party,' continued Ramona.

'It's the night of my show. But anyway... ok,' Luann replied.

'Of course it's disappointing that your 'friends' don't even want to come and support you,' she added. 'It's like your parents not wanting to come to your school play.'

At the '80s aerobics class, it was decided that things would be moved around so that the cast could, in fact, stop by Luann's show if they wanted.

Later, Ramona went to visit Tinsley, who'd just lost her dog Bambi, 12, to cancer.

'He was my everything,' Tinsley said. 'My family's everything. He's not just a dog, he's my child.'

'I want you to get it together. This is not healthy for you,' said Ramona.

'It just happened—what do you expect?' Tinsley shrieked.

She explained how he passed.

'Towards the end of the night, I gave him three kisses and I rubbed him a little bit, but I didn't want to wake him. Then I went back to check on him 30 minutes later, and I was like, ''Wait,'' and I went,' she said, pretending to rub him.

She called out, remembering: 'Bambi! Bambi!'

'And I picked him up, and his little head flopped over, and I was like, ''Nooooo!'' I called 911 and then the fire trucks came and they couldn't revive him,' she wailed.

'Okay, this is major,' said Ramona in a confessional. 'For her not to have any lashes on, or makeup? Not even lipgloss. Whoa.'

'I've never seen someone this hysterical over losing a dog— and that's coming from someone who had a dog funeral,' said Sonja, who'd just joined them, to camera.

'Now if I have a kid, I swear to God I'm naming it Bambi,' moaned Tinsley. 'And I know I feel like I'm gonna get another tattoo, and I'm gonna get Bambi.'

'Well, you know, you're kind of in a heated moment,' said Sonja. 'No rush, no rush.'

To her horror, Ramona learned that the dog would be frozen before a viewing in Florida.

'And how do they defrost the dog—leave it room temperature, they put it in a microwave?' she asked.

'Who wants to hug a de-thawed dog?' she said privately. 'What is it, like a frozen meat?'

There was one bright spot for Tinsley.

Her ex, Scott, sent her a Bambi shimmer sneaker in silver, from Gucci.

It was, Sonja confessed, 'a little weird.'
