Chloe Grace Moretz transforms into a bloodied WW2 bomber pilot on set of Shadow in the Cloud... after the movie's writer was accused of serial emotional and sexual abuse

Chloe Grace Moretz looked bloodied and beaten on the set of Shadow in the Cloud in New Zealand.

The actress is pictured for the first time on the set of the Roseanne Liang-directed horror movie, dealing with Japanese enemies as she transforms into a World War II bomber pilot.

Wearing a khaki green jumpsuit the 22-year-old acted out a fight scene in the middle of a stream in chilly temperatures.

One of her sleeves was ripped off at the shoulder exposing a bloody wound and her knuckles were wrapped in strips of fabric.

At one point Chloe sat on top of one of her enemies, straddling him while she appeared to pummel him with her fists.

According to Variety, Shadow in the Cloud tells the story of a World War II pilot on a B-17 Flying Fortress who is 'clutching a black radio bag with top secret contents and orders authorizing her transport.'

Chloe's character must contend with resistance from her all-male crew members, an ambush from Japanese forces, and strange happenings on board the aircraft.

In April Chloe revealed the movie had been rewritten as the cast and crew distanced themselves from screenwriter Max Landis following accusations of sexual misconduct.

She told The Guardian that while Landis may have his name attached to the project 'we've completely distanced ourselves from him. We've rewritten it several times now. His name is kind of far away from the project.

'Communication is key and being held accountable is key,' she added. 'It’s a really horrific thing to hear those stories.'

In the past week it was reported that Landis been accused of emotional and sexual abuse by eight women, including one who described him as a 'serial rapist, gaslighter, physical and psychological abuser'.

Ex-girlfriends, former friends and colleagues revealed varying degrees of alleged abuse at the hands of Landis over more than a decade in a lengthy expose by the Daily Beast published on Tuesday.

The accusations against him were first made public in 2017 - mostly on social media - and date back a decade.

Landis is known for writing the screenplay Chronicle and his latest writing credit is the film Bright.

Chloe found herself in a similar conundrum when she starred opposite Louis C.K. in the comedian's controversial directorial effort I Love You Daddy in 2017.

The movie's release was canceled after Louis admitted to sexual misconduct amid the #MeToo movement and Chloe refused to promote it until it was taken off the schedule.

Several months later she told The New York Times: 'I think it should just kind of go away, honestly,

'I don’t think it’s time for them to have a voice right now. Of course, it’s devastating to put time into a project and have it disappear.

'But at the same time, this movement is so powerful and so progressive that I’m just happy to be in communication with everyone and to see the big change in the face of the industry, which I think is very, very real.'
