Heidi Montag reveals it took time to warm up to new The Hills co-star Mischa Barton: 'It was a little frustrating for me at first'
Mischa Barton didn't click with everybody right away on The Hills: New Beginnings.
Heidi Montag talked about her first impressions of her new co-star, who joined the cast of the reboot this year, and revealed she was initially put-off by Mischa's 'reserved' personality.
'I think it was a little frustrating for me at first, because, like, we've put our whole lives into this show before and after, so to have someone come in and, like, be so reserved was a little bit frustrating,' Montag, 33, told Us Weekly earlier this month.

Last night was The Hills: New Beginnings premiere in LA so of course cast originals, Heidi and Spencer Pratt, made an appearance with their cute son, Gunner.

Montag, 32, did end up giving her costar the benefit of the doubt, however.
'I don't think it was intentional, I think that is, like, how she is, and she's just a little more closed and needed a little more time to open,' she admitted.
Cast member and Hills alum Jason Wahler saw a different side of Barton that he says took time to build.

'She was very sheltered in the beginning. Very sheltered and shy and I think as I've gotten to know her … she was definitely ...' Wahler began.
'... Misunderstood,' his wife Ashley Wahler interjected.
'I feel like she's, like, a little timid and not as, like, open as the rest of us, but then as soon as you hang out with her she becomes more real and raw,' Ashley, who is part of the cast as well, explained.

Frankie Delgado gave Barton some props for even trying.
'What we do is really hard to do and I think that she kind of proved it right,' the Hills alum said.
'Like, she was like, "Yo, listen, this is the hardest thing I've done."

'You gotta put yourself out there… People can spot that fakeness,' he added.
It might have taken time for Barton to adjust, but now that she has, she's earned rave reviews from Montag and others.
'I think she’s really quirky and funny and… she’s a great addition to the cast. I really like Mischa,' Montag said.
'I love Mischa, I have a great time with her,' Ashley said in agreement.
The Hills: New Beginnings premieres on MTV at 10 p.m. EST on Monday, June 24, 2019.
