After having a goal ruled out by VAR in the first half, Valerie Gauvin opened the scoring on 52 minutes before Thaisa forced the match into extra-time. Henry's intervention means that the hosts will now face either USA or Spain for a place in the semi-finals.

The young woman, who has not been named, was sitting four rows from the field along the first base line at the Dodgers Stadium, California, just beyond protective netting that extends to the end of the visiting dugout. She was hit by a sharp line drive by Dodgers star Cody Bellinger. In game footage, Bellinger (right) can be seen clutching his helmet upon realizing the fan has been hit, while the crowd gasps.
