Transitioning to the two driving together in a car, Slim asks, 'So what happens tonight?'

'Did you think we were gonna have sex?' Queen teases, before Slim laughs and gets honest , 'No, I thought we were gonna hang out, maybe get to know each other.'

The couple's bond grows into a classic love story as they unwittingly become symbols of pain and grief due, in part, to a video of the shooting that has gone viral.

'I ain't gonna bend the world. As long as my lady remembers me fondly, that's all I need,' Slim can be heard saying as the two drive along a long rural road into the horizon.

The film serves as Melina Matsoukas's directorial debut and was adapted to the screen by Lena Waithe, who wrote the script based on an idea by best-selling author James Frey.

Queen & Slim will hit theaters across North America November 27, 2019.
