  • CAUTION: Avenger: End Game spoilers ahead!

With just days left until Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters, Zendaya has shed some new light her character Michelle Jones, a good friend of Tom Holland's Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

The 22-year-old actress spoke with the Sydney Morning Herald, telling the publication about how Peter/Spider-Man feels the need to step up in a big way.

The film is set in the aftermath of the April blockbuster Avengers: Endgame, where Peter's mentor Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) was killed.

'He’s still young with a lot of pressure to step up to the plate and fill a void for superheroes after the end of the last Avengers movie,' she said.

'But my character reflects the normal part of life that he desperately still wants, to have fun with a girl who is quirky, weird and has a dark sense of humor that he appreciates.'

Zendaya reprises her role as Michelle Jones - a.k.a. MJ - from 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, with Holland recalling how she landed the coveted role immediately.

Holland said he had auditioned with hundreds of actresses for producer Amy Pascal, before Zendaya walked in and nailed the role right away.
