Lindsay Lohan's rep SHUTS DOWN rumors the actress is teaming up with frenemy Paris Hilton for The Simple Life reboot: 'This is news to her team'

Lindsay Lohan will not be joining the rumored reboot of The Simple Life.

The Twittersphere exploded with the news that the 32-year-old Mean Girls star might join her frenemy Paris Hilton on a new version of the mid-2000s reality TV hit.

However on Tuesday, Lohan's reps told Page Six there was no truth to the rumors, stating, 'This is news to her team'.

The speculation began when an unverified The Simple Life account hinted Tuesday the pair would be teaming up over a series of cryptic posts.

The account only started posting Tuesday but has already got all of Twitter talking, after it posted two emojis of a blonde and red headed woman.

A few fans deduced the emoticons were Lindsay and Paris.

Shortly afterwards, the account posted a throwback photo of Lindsay and Paris posing together, along with a caption suggesting the feud wasn't over just yet.

'Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer,' the tweet read.

Then the account indicated Lindsay had been working on the show's new theme song, directing followers to a photo she posted of herself back in the studio.

'Lohan & Hilton #ThemSong,' it tweeted.

Further adding fuel to the fire is the fact the account is only following Paris, Lindsay, and Netflix, a major hint the show would appear on the service.

So far, none of the accounts have responded on social media.

However a source at Netflix told Page Six on Tuesday, 'There’s no truth to this.'

From 2003 to 2007, Paris and her friend Nicole Richie starred on the hit series The Simple Life, which placed the privileged women in fish out of water situations.

Season one of the show placed the ladies with a family on their farm in Arkansas, and in season three the pair interned in Manhattan.

At the time, Paris was starring alongside her BFF, Nicole Richie, who she eventually had a falling out with.

The excitement over Paris teaming up with Lindsay stems over the pair's famous feud.

Paris has not been shy in her criticism about her former friend, recently dubbing Lindsay 'beyond... lame and embarrassing' during a recent interview on Watch What Happens Live.

'Back in the day we were friends,' said the hotel heiress on Andy's SiriusXM radio show last year, sniping that Lindsay 'is just, like, one of those people I just don't really trust.'

Paris also insisted she helped Lindsay save face in front of the paparazzi back in 2006, after the Parent Trap star attempted to squeeze into the socialite's car, uninvited.

At the time, Paris was leaving the Beverly Hills Hilton with Britney Spears, when Lindsay 'squeezed' herself into her 'two-seater' car to join them.

Paris said she allowed Lindsay in because she 'didn't want to humiliate her in front of all the paparazzi and be like: "Get out of my car."'

More recently, Lindsay was asked to respond to Paris' 'lame and embarrassing' characterization of her.

'Who's that?' Lindsay asked on Kylie & Jackie O Show. 'Who's that?' she repeated.

She continued: 'Nothing really makes me angry.

'I have no problems with anyone in my life and I'm grateful for that. I'm a very loving person.

'I mean, if it's going to be good press for someone else, even in a negative way then I'll pray for them.'

Lindsay's rep told Us Weekly Paris' comments were just an indication the heiress 'needs to feel relevant and is desperate for attention.'
