The Enola Holmes Mysteries novel series was first published in 2006, following the title character who, on her 14th birthday, discovers her mother has disappeared.

Enola's brothers, Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes, deduce that their mother has left voluntarily, but Enola discovers ciphers her mother left behind.

While her brothers try to send Enola to boarding school, Enola runs away to London, solving a number of mysteries along the way while trying to evade her siblings.
