Joe Biden's praise for segregationists followed him to the Democratic presidential debate on Thursday evening and exploded into a racial controversy that could put a huge dent in his candidacy after Kamala Harris lectured him on busing. Harris, who is Jamaican-American, inserted herself into a discussion on the thorny topic, saying, 'As the only black person on this stage, I would like to speak, on the issue of race.' She said it was 'hurtful' that Biden had praised two notorious, Democratic segregationists who he served with in the Senate in the 1970s. One, James Eastland, from Mississippi, called African-Americans 'flesh eaters'; the other, Herman Talmadge, ran for the Senate on a pledge to stop blacks and whites eating together in the Capitol itself. Biden revealed at a private fundraising event that Eastland 'didn't call me boy,' and said of their time in the Senate: 'At least there was some civility.' Harris confronted Biden about the remarks and his stance in the '70s against busing encourage racial integration in schools - he worked with the two segregationists to try to prevent federal imposition of the policy. 

Tenia Campbell, 24, of Medford, New York was arrested at the scene following a frantic police search spanning more than 60 miles, which began when she called 911 on Thursday at 2.30pm threatening to kill herself and her daughters. Police say the young girls were taken to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital where they were tragically pronounced dead. Campbell was transported to East Hampton Town Police Headquarters and charged by Suffolk County Homicide Squad detectives with two counts of murder.

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis first purchased the Red Gate Farm on Martha's Vineyard near Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in 1979 for $1.1 million. The 340-acre property features more than a mile of private Atlantic beachfront and is surrounded by foliage. The property, which was formerly a shed farm, was first purchased with only a hunting shed on the estate. Onassis transformed the property to include a main residence, guest home, pool, tennis court, caretaker home and two garages. Daughter Caroline Kennedy later inherited the property and it is now up for sale after 40 years in the family.

Eagle-eyed viewers spotted the moment of comic relief and shared it on social media, where thousands shared Biden's off-guard reaction. The former vice president appeared surprised when he noticed Bernie's hand near his face as the Vermont senator over-extended into Biden's personal space. Thursday evening's debates in Miami marked the conclusion of the two-day Democratic debates to help decide who will take on Trump in the 2020 election.

Fey and her husband stayed together, until his death in 2006. She died in 2010, aged 92.

Before a New Jersey woman bled to death after being stabbed in the chest with a knife she identified her twin sister as her killer, a judge revealed in court on Thursday. Amanda Ramirez, 27, shook and wept through much of the hearing, in which Camden County Superior Court Judge Edward McBride revealed that her slain sister, Anna, screamed 'Amanda, you stabbed me!' as she laid bleeding on the floor on Saturday. The same witness, who wasn't identified, claims to have heard Ramirez threaten her sibling, telling Anna 'Watch what I'm going to do,' before going back inside her home at the at the Centennial Village Apartments and retrieving a large kitchen knife.

Carmelo Anthony was photographed lounging on a yacht in southern France with a mystery woman (main) on Tuesday as bloggers noted he was did not attend wife La La's birthday celebrations. The 35-year-old former New York Knicks player (inset with La La) claimed that the woman on the luxury boat was actually with her husband and the rest of her family. The athlete claimed that he was in Europe on a business retreat and had been on the yacht as a friend.

Éric Belec, 40, from Laval, Quebec, has died after the camper he was driving hurtled through the air and crashed into the parking deck on a ferry leaving port in Quebec. A witness confirmed to DailyMail.com that Belec had one female passenger, 40, in the camper with him, who was pulled out alive. Belec was pulled from the wreckage of the decimated camper and rushed to hospital where he died hours later. The female passenger remains in critical condition according to officials in the Canadian province. Dramatic CCTV footage shows the extraordinary moment the vehicle soared over the water and crash-landed onto cars parked on the ferry.

The former wife of Donald Trump is a familiar to face to locals in the coastal town on the French Riviera, having regularly vacationed there for more than two decades.

The Actor, right, will stay in the museum's collection after former owner Paul Leffmann's great-grandniece Laurel Zuckerman, left, demanded its return. She waited too long to reclaim it Chief Judge Robert Katzmann argued. Zuckerman said her relative sold the painting to a Paris art dealer in 1938. She said the money was used to fund an escape by Paul and his wife Alice. The Met, inset, says it 'considers all Nazi-era claims thoroughly and responsibly'. A graphic video and pictures showed the appalling condition of the 'survivor', who was said to have suffered a broken spine in the attack by the bear who stashed him to eat later. But it has now been claimed that the victim was actually in hospital in Kazakhstan and had never been attacked. Every hospital in Tuva, the area where the attack was reported to have happened, has now denied that the man had been a patient. In addition, a language heard in the footage is claimed to be Kazakh rather than Tuvan.

A Georgia community has rallied together after an image of a homeless man sleeping in their town's McDonald's unexpectedly went viral.   Simon Childs, 21, has been offered clothing, a hotel room and a car after he was photographed asleep in the Fayetteville fast food franchise over the weekend. A woman snapped a picture of Childs and shared it to Facebook, complaining about his lack of decorum. 

While preparing to leave from port in Bermuda earlier this month, a Norwegian Cruise ship was held up three straggling tourists, who were not on board for the original departure time of 2.30pm. Crew decided to wait for the individuals, who were seen arriving 20 minutes later to cheers from those on board as they jogged down the jetty.
