Inflation – annual inflation rate

Inflation is a general increase in prices, while the inflation rate shows the percentage increase in prices. In Slovenia inflation is measured with the consumer price index with which we measure changes in retail prices of goods and services from the point of view of the expenditure structure, which the resident population intends for final consumption at home and abroad.

In 2017 the ICT sector generated about EUR 240 million more turnover and about EUR 114 million more value added than in 2016. It employed 26,299 employees and self-employed persons, which was 4% more than in the previous year.

In 2018, 21% more organic vegetables produced in Slovenia than the year before
21% more organic vegetables were produced in 2018 than in 2017. After the fall of the quantity of produced vegetables by 14% in 2017 compared to the previous year, in 2018 almost 4% more was harvested than in 2016.

More than 500,000 tourist arrivals in May
Over 500,000 tourist arrivals and over 1.1 million tourist overnight stays were recorded in accommodation establishments in May 2019. As regards arrivals, May 2019 was similar to May 2018, but there were almost 4% fewer overnight stays. Foreign tourists generated over 73% of all overnight stays.

In 2018 the catch (landing) of fishery products was about 2% lower than in 2017, and its total purchase value decreased by about 3%.

In the first quarter of 2019 non-financial corporations generated a deficit, other sectors a surplus
In the first quarter, surplus with the rest of the world continued to grow. Non-financial corporations generated a deficit, while financial corporations, general government and households generated a surplus. The non-financial corporations’ investment rate and the households’ saving rate increased.

2.6% less milk collected in May 2019 than in May 2018
More than 50,800 tons of milk was collected from agricultural holdings in May 2019. With the exception of drinking milk and cheese, dairies produced more dairy products than in May 2018.
