Idris Elba makes a bold statement in a 'don't stab your future' slogan T-shirt as he takes to the stage ahead of Skepta at Wireless festival

He has previously spoken candidly about knife crime, as he called for an end to the 'stupid' incidents during an impassioned Instagram video earlier this year.

And Idris Elba continued his anti-knife crusade as he took to the stage wearing a 'don't stab your future' slogan T-shirt at Wireless festival on Saturday.

The Luther actor, 46, joined British rapper Stefflon Don on the main stage during her energetic set at the annual festival held at Finnsbury Park.

Idris held out his mic to the raucous crowds during his performance, wearing his statement T-shirt and a pair of black shorts with a yellow beanie hat and shades.

Idris previously begged 'stupid' thugs to stop stabbing each other over petty arguments in an emotional clip which he shared on his social media.

In a black-and-white selfie video, the actor and DJ urged teenagers using the weapons to 'stab themselves' instead of others because they are stabbing their futures in doing so.

He went on to say that fellow entertainers should use their own platforms to spread the message in a bid to tackle Britain's knife crime epidemic.

Calling on perpetrators to stop making their communities 'look stupid', and urged them to think of their future

The Wire star explained that knife crime wasn't 'new' in the capital, as he grew up in the 1980s when there were similar incidents 'between blacks and whites.'
