And eight years later, several of Elizabeth Taylor's possessions will be up for auction, including the dazzling Edith Head designed pale blue gown she wore to the 1974 premiere of That's Entertainment.
The items include evening gowns, pieces she wore in films, photoshoots as well as jewelry, wigs, household items and fine art that she owned during her life.

The Property from the Lifestyle of Elizabeth Taylor auction was announced by Julien's auctions on Tuesday.
The auction will take place from Friday, December 6 until it concludes on December 8, 2019 at The Standard Oil Building in Beverly Hills and also online at julienauctions.com.
Prior to the auction, all the pieces will be on a daily, rotating exhibit on the Queen Mary 2 while on a Transatlantic Crossing, starting from Southampton, England.
Guest of the journey can bid before the general auction; the Transatlantic crossing kicks off on October 18.
The journey is in partnership with Cunard, the luxury cruise line, and Julien's Auctions.

One of the many exquisite items from the auction includes a pale blue gown designed by Edith Head; the chiffon number was worn by Elizabeth to the That's Entertainment premiere.
It is estimated to be worth $4,000 to $6,000.

A second pantsuit - leopard print patterned and designed by Mirsa - is also up for sale at the auction.
Elizabeth donned the set in the 1970 film The Only Game In Town; it is estimated to be worth $3,000 to $5,000.
There is also a leather jacket by Versace on sale; the beaded designer piece, thought to be worth $4,000 to $6,000, was worn by Elizabeth during her appearance on The Johnny Carson Show.
Elizabeth's New York Yankees jacket worn in 2004 for her Bruce Weber photoshoot is also on sale; its thought to be worth $2,000 to $4,000.
