'I think he's wonderful!' Jacki Weaver gushes over Barack Obama after it was revealed the former US president is 'a big fan' of the actress
Australian icon Jacki Weaver has friends in some very high places.
During an interview on The Sunday Project this weekend, the 71-year-old gushed over her unlikely connection to Barack Obama, who is a 'big fan' of her work.
'I love him,' she told interviewer Lisa Wilkinson, before joking, 'But I don't think he's casting any films.'

'I think he's wonderful,' Jacki added, while struggling to contain her excitement.

It comes after the actress first revealed her high profile admirer last year.
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, she recalled how a producer from her Oscar nominated movie, Silver Linings Playbook, relayed the story to her after an exclusive dinner at the White House.
'I love him,' she told interviewer Lisa Wilkinson on Sunday, before joking, 'But I don't think he's casting any films'
Jacki said: 'It was a very exclusive dinner. Only 16 people. And Michelle put him [Bruce, the producer] next to Obama.
'And the president said, "What are you doing at the moment, Bruce?"
'And Bruce said, "I'm making a film with Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro and Jacki Weaver." And Obama said, "Oh, I love Jacki Weaver".'
Who knew! Last year, Jacki, 71, first revealed Barack was a fan last year, after a producer she had worked with had met with the former US president
The unusual alliance comes after the friendship between Rihanna and Julia Gillard was recently revealed.
The former Prime Minister became close to the singer after after recruiting her as a Global Ambassador for the GPE (Global Partnership of Education).
And despite their differences, Julia gushed that she found Rihanna 'very easy' to be around and talk to. So much so, that she now considers herself a Rihanna fan.
'I've become a fan,' she told Australian Vogue last month.
'Not only of the music, but more importantly a fan of her work and the efforts she's prepared to make to uplift the education of every child around the world.'
