He has landed a role in the upcoming Netflix movie Kate.

And Woody Harrelson put on an animated display when he scooped up the François Truffaut award at the Giffoni Film Festival in Giffoni Valle Piana, Italy, on Saturday.

The actor, 57, looked dapper in a red and white striped shirt paired with caramel coloured corduroy trousers.

The Cheers star added to his ensemble with a white straw fedora hat, which was decorated with a black ribbon, brown backless loafers and dark aviator style sunglasses.   

Woody struggled to contain his excitement as he paraded his award down the red carpet surrounded by cheering fans.

He happily scribbled autographs for admirers and posed for selfies with screaming onlookers.

The True Detective actor also hopped into a car painted with the festival's branding as he sped around the city.

Woody's award comes after he recently starred in the Netflix movie The Highwaymen about the Texas Rangers hunt for infamous outlaws Bonnie and Clyde. 

Netflix announced on Thursday that the actor, 57, is set to appear in another film for the streaming platform alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the action thriller Kate.

It's not known what role Harrelson will play, Kate will be directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan who helmed 2016's The Huntsman: Winter's War.
