Hmmm. While I think what’s happening at the border right now is terrible, I just can’t share a photo like this with no source. Who knows when and where it is actually from? I won’t contribute to fake news.

Hi, I shared it bc when I was detained in McAllen in 2014, I was with boys who were locked up. It wasn’t okay then; it’s not okay now.

Jose, delete this tweet. If you are a journalist and are posting an unverified photo you are guilty of the same misinformation as Trump and you are giving fodder to the other side.

Agreed! We differ in opinions, but we need to have conscious debate on the facts, and not stir up controversy, hatred and outrage with inaccurate or false information!

That's not the point. You cannot post things like this if they are unverifiable. It just make things worse. I'm a nobody, but I'm not interested in junk from any side of the issue. I expect it from the right. I don't want to tolerate this from the left.

u post this as if it’s somehow a positive thing, if anything that reporter exposed how American are treating children as little adults in a jail, that’s America for u. That’s what America stands for, mistreating children from other countries instead of trying to fix the system

I posted to show that they are not sleeping in cages, like animals, as you suggested. They are also not being mistreated. They are receiving better food & medical care than many American citizens. I agree, fix the system.

You basically just made the case to keep them in the detention centers indefinitely. They go "missing" bc they don't show up to their hearings after they've been released. There's tens of thousands of them. The cost of the man power needed to track that many would be incredible.
