Donald Trump slammed the Democratic candidates on Wednesday amid their second presidential debate, warning they will lead the country into an 'economic sinkhole.'

The president struck out at Joe Biden and Kamala Harris by name as they prepare to take the debate stage for part two of the Democratic debate.

'If I hadn’t won the 2016 Election, we would be in a Great Recession/Depression right now. The people I saw on stage last night, & you can add in Sleepy Joe, Harris, & the rest, will lead us into an economic sinkhole the likes of which we have never seen before. With me, only up!,' he tweeted.

He added on a quote from Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana attacking socialists.

'“The lesser of two Socialists is still a Socialist!” Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana,' the president wrote.

Biden and Harris fall on the more moderate end of the Democratic Party. The leading liberals in the race are Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, who were slammed for their progressive policies in Tuesday night's debate.

The Democrats on stage Tuesday night took turns hitting out at Trump and each other as they battled to win over voters.

Trump was notably silent on Twitter - his favorite form of communication - during the ruckus.

But he added his commentary in Wednesday's tweet, focusing on the economy, which the president is said to believe will help him win re-election next year.

Trump takes the opportunity to point out how well the American economy is doing under his stewardship at every chance he gets.

Democrats debating in Detroit on Tuesday teetered between slamming President Donald Trump and attacking each other - a scenario that could repeat itself Wednesday night when 10 more candidates take the stage for round two.

Biden is expected to be the main target of the political fire. He'll be flanked by Harris and Cory Booker, who have led the criticism of him as of late.

Trump did get targeted during Tuesday night's clash.

'Ultimately we have to beat Donald Trump,' Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar said.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wasted no time clobbering Trump, saying he 'disgraces the office of president every single day.'

The most devastating attack on the president came from South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who asked 'how somebody like Donald Trump gets within cheating distance of the Oval Office in the first place. It doesn't happen unless America is already in a crisis,' he said.

'Our country is running out of time. It is even bigger than the emergency of the Trump presidency,' Buttigieg added.
